Sophie Monk and Tad Hilgenbrinck (Lost Boys: The Tribe, Amusement) are starring with William Sadler (The Mist, Demon Knight) in The Hills Run Red (first announced back in April), the latest horror production from Dark Castle Home Entertainment and Warner Premiere. Shooting is underway in Sofia, Bulgaria. Alex Wyndham and Janet Montgomery also star in the production, which is being directed by Dave Parker and is written by David J. Schow ("The Crow") and John Dumbrow from a story by Dumbrow and John Carchietta. The story centers on a film fanatic whose obsession with finding a complete print of an infamous slasher movie leads him and two friends into the backwoods where the film was shot. They realize too late that filming never ended -- and now they must survive a nightmarish onslaught or become part of the movie forever.
The title sounds too similar to "The Hills Have Eyes", but it's still cool. Is this a remake or is a totally new idea? If it's the latter, then bravo to Dark Castle!
I was not impressed with Return to House on Haunted Hill. Hopefully Dark Castle's new home entertainment division will bring on a success with this latest movie. But, apart from House of Wax, everything Dark Castle has touched as been terrible.
I have to be honest I am really excited. Being a slasher fanatic this seems perfect. You gotta love all the slasher films that are coming our way this year and the next.
