David Duchovny Talks MORE 'X-Files' Sequels!

It has taken nearly a decade to continue on with the story of Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, and with 20th Century Fox's sequel X-Files: I Want to Believe on its way to theaters this July it's almost shocking to hear that star David Duchovny is already talking more sequels. In this month's Wizard Magazine (Issue #201) he chats briefly about how he believes the franchise is infinite in it's possibilities.

"I know it took me about a year to feel whole after the show was over. After that point I was ready, and it was always my intention, my desire, that the show would continue on in movie form," Duchovny tells Wizard Magazine.

So, this could be a series of movies, they ask.

"I wouldn't see any reason to do it unless it were. It's a serial show by its nature. The frame and the characters throw off an infinite number of stories and situations, it's a classic, archetypal relationship., with a believer and a nonbeliever, with this kind of unrequited love in the middle of it, and it all works. And that can work forever as long as your stories are good."

In the Chris Carter directed sequel arriving in theaters July 25, when a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable “visions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. It’s a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere...and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!

It's time for Chappelle to hit the "Wrap It Up" button. Nobody wants a stand-alone story. We want the whole alien/conspiracy shit to be wrapped up and done. THEN go and do your other stories. Fuck.

This movie looks bad ass and can't wait. Serious this is turning out to be a good summer for horror. With The Strangers kicking ass and now the X - Files looking really scary and weird. I can't wait.

NixEclips: WELL SAID. The whole reason i watched the show was the mythology episodes. If the next movie isn't about the invasion I'll be pissed...

I'm happy either way, I mean, come on... it's the fucking X-Files... did anyone even think we'd see it again?

I'm already whistling the theme tune in my head. I'm stoked this is coming.

I'm glad it's a stand-alone story.

i agree w/ Sea Hag. i loved the X-files (Gillian Anderson rules!), but the mythology storyline was way too complicated and (IMO) boring. i always loved the stand alone episodes. so i'm glad the movie will be one!

I actually got very tired of the mythology stories, mainly for their convoluted feel. My favorite episodes were among the stand alone eps, and I am looking forward to more like that. Besides, they will help draw in a larger audience, and thus more money.

I questioned the reason to release a stand alone story in the first X-Files movie in ten years, and six years since the end of the TV Series, but, Chris Carter has to find a way & a reason to bring back Mulder & Scully, and what way better than a stand alone scary as hell story. Remember, both Mulder & Scully are wanted, so Chris Carter had to bring them back slowly, as advisers to this investigation. I'm sure Chris and Frank Spotnitz will tie in they're return, in some way that they will be pardoned, so they could comeback to the F.B.I, and they're old jobs, as Special Investigator Agents, and the F.B.I Officially reopening the X-Files. Then, they will be ready for the next X-Files film, that will return the X-Files to close out a pending case, that has been opened since almost the beginning of the show and tie up all the loose ends when Mulder & Scully will do battle with an old enemy, the Alien Bounty Hunter and the rest of his kind, when they come to take over, recolonize and repopulate the Earth with they're own kind on that fateful day, Dec 21, 2012. Then, let the final battle begin! Also, look for a return of another old friend that everybody thinks dead, here's a one word clue on his idenity, and, if you don't know who he is, your not a true believer, "Morley" Let's enjoy the ride, and if Chris Carter wants to release more movies after these next two, well I say, bring'em on! I'll never give up on searching for the Truth, cause it's still out there!!!!!
