A few weeks ago we broke the news on [REC] 2, a sequel to the Spanish horror film that re-teams Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza. Today the first teaser poster found its way online and can be found by reading on. In the original a group of people are quarantined in an apartment complex. [REC] has already been remade here in the States under the name QUARANTINE and will be hitting theaters this October with a hard R-rating.
i saw rec last weekend and i really enjoyed it. especially the end with the grown up girl, who was kept her whole life in the house and who was sooo damn skinny!!!! because i live in vienna, not far away from amstetten, where josef fritz kept his doughter for 24years in the basement, it was very frightening and seemed so terrible. i mean, i dont know who played the woman in the movie but she looked sooo real and scary and sad etc. very disturbing
Too bad the Quarantine trailer left nothing to your imagination as to what you're going to get in the remake, everything down to the last shot was shown.
It'll be interesting to see what direction they head into with the sequel. They obviously can't do another "documentary gone wrong" story. I think they'll have to open it up a lot wider.
Incidentally (and, admittedly, judging purely from the trailer), Quarantine totally ruins the premise by having the movie book-ended by scenes set after the docu-footage has run out, destroying any element of surprise, in my opinion. I'll stick with the Spanish guys.
I had high hopes for Quarantine but it kinda looks cheezy with that American trailer. I just hope the sequel is only related in terms of the virus but different everywhere else.
