Tonight NBC kicks off their brand new horror anthology Fear Itself. One of the forthcoming episodes was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of SAW II-IV and REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. Today the director updated his official blog with a new entry regarding the gore-factor of the anthology, which features an exclusive bloody pic from his episode entitled "New Year's Day". As much respect as I have for a lot of the newer directors. It's a shame that "the red stuff" has more value than good stories, memorable characters, and actual substance. Although, I might just check out Fear Itself now.
Just watched the first episode and it was awful. Then again, it's a prime time show on a major network, so we all pretty much knew it was going to suck it up. Most of us watched anyway, because so many news sources were making promises of blood and gore as if that's the one and only element necessary to make a horror feature worth watching. And all we got in the end was an episode of Buffy that took itself almost more seriously than a human can imagine. It was about as bad as I expected, so at least I can't say that I was disappointed.
Bousman is the worst horror director out. Who gives a shit whether he has gore? He only uses it to make up for his level of suck anyway.
