We scored the last of the names for Lionsgate's 3-D remake of My Bloody Valentine, which is being directed by Patrick Lussier. We learned that Betsey Rue (Playboys, Deep in the Valley) will play Irene in the film, which is currently lensing in Pittsburgh, PA for a January 23, 2009 release. She joins Jamie King, Jensen Ackles, Tom Atkins, Kerr Smith, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Tighe and Megan Boone in the film which follows Tom's (Jensen Ackles) return to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine's night massacre that claimed the life of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders. In addition, we also scored a look at the FULL synopsis for the film, which can be found inside.
Ten years ago, a tragedy changed the town of Harmony forever. Tom Hanniger, an inexperienced coal miner, caused an accident in the tunnels that trapped and killed five men and sent the only survivor, Harry Warden, into a permanent coma. But Harry Warden wanted revenge. Exactly one year later, on Valentine's Day, he woke up...and brutally murdered twenty-two people with a pickaxe before being killed.
Ten years later, Tom Hanniger returns to Harmony on Valentine's Day, still haunted by the deaths he caused. Struggling to make amends with his past, he grapples with unresolved feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Sarah, who is now married to his best friend, Axel, the town sheriff. But tonight, after years of peace, something from Harmony's dark past has returned. Wearing a miner's mask and armed with a pickaxe, an unstoppable killer is on the loose. And as his footsteps come ever closer, Tom, Sarah and Axel realize in terror that it just might be Harry Warden who's come back to claim them...
i totally psyched to see this!! Jensen's a great actor & and i really liked the original. i hope (PLEASE!!) it's going to be rated R and not PG-13. the fact it's going to be in 3D makes me think it's going to be PG-13, though.
I'm confused. How is it that someone can slip into a permanent coma, only to wake up a year later? Wouldn't that make it temporary? Also, why would the one person who was the cause of these deaths return on an anniversary of the day of the murders?
Personally I prefer the original premise. Something about the idea of someone slowly be driven mad by confinement in a mine, and then killing the one person responsible makes more sense.
so far the only thing they have changed is that Axel is married to Sarah (instead of just dating) and he's the sheriff. way to make it your own, lussier.
I think it's great that they are keeping the same plot with a few changes as expected and the characters from the original. I'm glad it's Harry Warden, coal mining, and the pick axe. Sweet.
I'm glad Harry Warden will be here supposedly. I hope this time he is actually the killer...I want a series!!!
Anyways, I'm totally confused with the plot...was Jensen's character a teenager when he caused the accident?
if they are going to retain so much then there is no point. name one remake where they kept the characters, story development, etc and it turned out good. the more stuff they keep the worse it usually turns out (see: Psycho)
never seen the original, but i do like jenson ackles back from when he was eric from days of our lives....cool plus it is filming in my hometown sweet.
I was an extra coal miner in this film and by what i saw i can say valentine is gonna be a bloody good film.
