Today we posted our Full Report from the set of Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race (new images), which stars Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Joan Allen, John Fallon, Ian McShane, Natalie Martinez, Max Ryan, Jason Clarke and Fred Koehler. In addition to finding loads of brand new images, at the bottom of the report you'll find various links to interviews with the cast and crew of the remake, which is slated for release on August 22 from Universal Pictures. Jason Statham leads the cast of an action-thriller set in the post-industrial wasteland of tomorrow, with the world’s most brutal sporting event as its backdrop. A penitentiary full of felons has inspired the jailers to create a grisly pastime ripe for lucrative kickbacks. Now, adrenalized inmates, a global audience hungry for televised violence and a spectacular arena come together to form the Death Race.

I hope they do this one justice. The original is a classic and has a Grindhouse feel to it. I remember seeing it as a kid at the drive-in in the mid seventies when it came out. This is one movie you can totally update and make even better with the right script. My fingers are crossed.

why in the hell they have to be inmates??? the original was an open race with murderers as idols and a massacre of innocent bystanders for points... "blessed by none other than the U.S. president himself (although it was a world nation now) the film was a criticism of our addiction to violence to the point (as a society) that we celebrated murder instead of condemned as a crime... kinda prophetic, isn't it? Now i guess the P.C. people changed the whole idea just to fit today "proper image" and not feeling guilty about a innocent people getting run down as a sport, since they will be "bad people"

So it's "PC" because the murderers are inmates? What the hell are you on?

So this is going to be like The Running Man with cars. Paul W.S. being the project is not helping this project at all. Statham should do enough to keep this movie watchable though.

This seems to have less and less to do with the original. why can't they just take away the title and the Frankenstein reference and make it a 'new' movie. that way it doesn't need to compete with the original (which will always overshadow this one).

Paul Who Sucks Anderson should be banned from all movies with potential until he proves that he can make an un-shitty film. This could have been great. AVP could have been great. If this keeps up he's going to land in the toilet with Uwe Boll.

uurgh! Jason Statham is so bad. He like some of the other actors who just play one character, with the stern face and the hard nut persona.BOOORING! I don't think this will be any good as the original was a gritty low budget film, where as this will be so hollywoodised it'll make my eyes bleed. Gonna give it a miss i think.

why bead around the bush with this remake? why not just do TWISTED METAL: THE MOVIE ? that would be awesome. GO SWEET TOOTH!
