THE BEAST: Extended Edition: Timeless

Peter Benchley, the master of sea terror, returns with another tale of aquatic mayhem in this three hour uncut version. With almost 80 minutes of restored scenes previously edited from earlier release

CLEAN: Brain Damage

Crane is a serial killer on a path of self-destruction. When a fellow murderer invites him to a very private snuff party, he decides it s time to finally take action and clean off a little bit of everything he hates on this planet. Far from being your usual slasher film, CLEAN delivers a disturbing look at our society from a very different angle. Filled with senseless violence and brutality, this daring independent movie will shock you in ways you can t even imagine.

THE CRY: Monterey

The legend of La Llorona—a Medea-like myth—has haunted the Americas for more than 500 years. Now this supernatural spirit hunts again. Over the course of one ominous day this anguished soul terrorizes New York City escalating her appetite for vengeance. A young mother comes under her spell and collides with two detectives, a witch, and the many who suffer this horrifying vengeance.

THE DEAD ZONE: The Final Season (3-disc set): Lionsgate

Prepare to experience all-new spellbinding suspense and paranormal adventures as Johnny Smith faces the greatest challenges of his psychically-altered existence in this sixth and final season of The Dead Zone.

THE EVIL WOODS: Lionsgate

Five high school teens take an impromptu weekend camping trip to a notorious desolate party spot. As night falls, an older gentleman, The Ranger, appears out of nowhere and joins the group at their campfire to tell the story of the “Beer Hunter.” It is a legend about a man that has killed those who littered their beer cans in the woods and who set fire to his remote wood cabin. The “Beer Hunter’s” spirit has lived on to seek revenge on ignorant, careless teenagers. The next morning, two of the campers return to find the tires on their Range Rover have been slashed. Without a spare and no cell phone coverage for miles, they appear to be stuck in the woods. Again, out of nowhere, The Ranger appears and agrees to meet them at sunset to help them get cell reception. Nightfall comes and goes with no sign of The Ranger and slowly but surely the group begins to disappear.

THE EYE: Lionsgate (TEX’S PICK OF THE WEEK)

Sydney Wells is blind and has been so since a childhood tragedy. After undergoing surgery to restore her sight she learns to see again. But soon after, unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Not knowing if they are an aftermath of surgery her mind adjusting to sight her imagination or something horrifyingly real Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see.

TEX SAYS: Let the slings and arrows begin, but this is a weak week for horror junkies and I say THE EYE was a pretty solid little fright flick. Big props for starring Jessica Alba too. Ahem!

THE INNOCENT: Brain Damage

Hell hath no fury like a child scorned, let alone one burnt, mutilated, abused and killed. Now four students are going to walk straight in to an abandoned hotel and a series of events that will horrify the world.

JEKYLL & HYDE: TOGETHER AGAIN: Legend Films/Paramount

The movie that made Robert Louis Stevenson spin in his grave! Mark Blankfield delivers a manic turn as both Jekyll and Hyde in a farce that will appeal to fans of Mel Brooks and the Zucker Brothers. Henry Jekyll is a well-respected scientist who discovers a way to isolate man's "animal instinct." The only problem is that his inner animal turns out to be a gold-toothed, hairy-chested party-animal named Mr. Hyde. The classic struggle between good and evil takes a back seat to opportunities for off-the-wall zaniness at every turn.

TEX SAYS: This is the 3rd Jekyll and Hyde release in the past 3 weeks. I’m only letting this one slide since its 26 years old…but someone please stop the madness!!!

THE MACHINE GIRL: Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters

Ami is a tough but otherwise average high school girl, trying to lead a normal life. Her world comes crashing down when her brother and his friend are killed by ruthless bullies. As Ami tracks down the ringleader, she is surprised to discover the bullies' association with a sinister ninja yakuza family. When she goes after her revenge, she soon finds herself in over her head and minus her left arm. Barely surviving, Ami escapes and seeks out shelter from two kindly garage mechanics. They take pity on her, fitting her with a high-powered machine gun where her arm used to be. She then teams up with the chainsaw-wielding mother of her brother's slain friend and together they unleash an unholy, non-stop, over-the-top kill fest against the equally creative machinery (drill bra, flying guillotine) of their relentless ninja enemies.

TEX SAYS: I’ve still not seen this flick (but it looks awesome), so I might consider revision of that “Pick of the Week” designation I bestowed on The Eye a few moments ago. Check this one out and let me know what you all think.

THE POSSESSION OF JOEL DELANEY: Legend Films/Paramount

Shirley MacLaine stars as Norah Benson, a New Yorker who puzzles over sudden changes in her brother's behavior. Joel has begun speaking Spanish and practicing strange rituals. In order to protect her family and save her brother, Norah must delve deep into the mysterious world of Santeria, where she begins to suspect that the spirit of a serial killer may be the reason for Joel's behavior.

RED ROOM 2: Unearthed

A sequel to the underground gorefesst, RED ROOM 2 will leave you gasping for air in its over-the-top grueling portrayal of what people will do for money. Up for grabs is another million dollars as four more contestants enter into the RED ROOM. Locked there they must play the King Game—a card game where each hand makes the loser participate in whatever the winner wants or desires. The game is played until there is only one survivor left. How much abuse can one person handle? How far will the contestants go for hard earned cash? How far will you be able to watch the contestants in the RED ROOM?

SHARK SWARM: Genius

When Marine biologist Amy Zuckerman arrives to survey some questionable land developments, she makes an alarming discovery: a beached Bull shark whose sensory organs exhibit violent tendencies—even after death. But the second anomaly fills her with dread: the unheard of phenomenon of a swarm of Great Whites, forty strong, cutting through the waters together with one horrifying purpose—to kill for pleasure. For Amy, the only way to fight the man-eating army that’s growing in strength, number, and hunger is to venture out into the watery terrors. What’s waiting is beyond anything she could fathom.

TEX SAYS: The Maneater Series never ceases to amaze me. When they run out of killer animals, do you think they’ll start on man-eating plants? I really want to rent a film called VENUS DEATH-TRAP!

THE SKULL: Legend Films/Paramount

Based on a short story by Robert Bloch (Psycho), The Skull introduces us to Dr. Christopher Maitland, a collector of the occult. When he is given the opportunity to purchase the skull of the infamous Marquis de Sade, he leaps at the chance. What he doesn't know is that his friend, Matthew Phillips is the former owner - and quite happy to be rid of it. Possession of The Skull leads to a terrifying series of nightmarish events for Dr. Maitland as he tries to keep control of his life, and as the forces of unspeakable evil bear down upon him.

STUDENT BODIES: Legend Films/Paramount

This killer comedy is the original teenage parody horror film taken to the extreme! The screams are as frequent as the laughs as a crazed, heavy-breathing murderer terrorizes Lamab High with a series of mysterious deaths. Everyone is a suspect and no one is safe from the hilarious twists and turns as Breather terrorizes and kills sex-starved couples. When the body count rises, one student attempts to solve the mystery and instead finds herself a suspect. Does she survive or become another victim? It's anyone's guess in this satirical romp of horror!

TEX SAYS: This is a classic of craptacular proportions. I still remember watching this flick in the mid-80’s on HBO. A must see for nostalgic horrorhounds or people with really stupid senses of humor. It’s probably not as good as I remember it—especially since I haven’t seen the film in like 20 years. So…anyone think we’ll ever see PANDEMONIUM show up on DVD?

STUMP THE BAND: TLA

For most musicians the road can be hell. But for a sexy all female rock band touring their way across America the road just became their worst nightmare! On their way to a record company showcase in Los Angeles their van breaks down somewhere in the wilds of Wisconsin. Soon they'll have to fight for their lives against a trio of back road psychos one of whom wields a mean axe to satisfy a murderous foot fetish.

TEX SAYS: This one is way worse than you’re imagining right now. Really…way worse!

I wouldnt say Machine Girl flat out sucks, but its not for all taste. Its waaaaaay over the top and stupid with suitably (for this material anyway) cheesy gore effects. But if you wanna have a few beers and invite some freinds over, it can be a fun party movie. Definitely has to be viewed in the right frame of mind and knowing what youre getting into. Tex, after you watch it, drop a line and tell us what you think.
