EXCLUSIVE
'30 Days of Night' Sequel in the Works
Friday, May 30, 2008

Although still in very early talks, we learned last night - and confirmed with various sources - that Ghost House Pictures is looking to produce the sequel to the adaptation to his popular vampire comic, 30 Days of Night, only this time the film is planned (not yet decided) for a direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray release. No word yet on writers or a director, but we'll let you know as soon as word comes in. The first movie was set in the isolated town of Barrow, Alaska, in the extreme northern hemisphere, which is plunged into complete darkness annually for an entire month. When most of the inhabitants head south for the winter, a mysterious group of strangers appear: bloodthirsty vampires, ready to take advantage of the uninterrupted darkness to feed on the town's residents. As the night wears on, Barrow's Sheriff Eben, his estranged wife Stella, and an ever-shrinking group of survivors must do anything they can to last until daylight.

I love the first one and would like to see a sequel, but it shouldn't go straight to video.

Dark Days was SO good. Stella becomes so bad ass. Hopefully they do it right.

Really Disappointed in the first one, but since it made money and was number one, i knew a sequel was inevitable, ill try to keep an open mind and hope this one will redeem itself from the first one that i didnt care for... (OPINION)!!!!!!!!!!!!

a straight to dvd sequel to a movie as great as 30 days of night is insulting imo

A sequel to this sh**fest?? The only way they can improve this is by making it "30 seconds of night" (My personal opinion)

Steve Niles denied this rumor at Shocktillyoudrop.com

I loved the movie, and I hope they get the backing and star power to put it out in theaters. Also, you people need to stop putting opinion disclaimers at the end of your posts. It's retarded. (Disclaimer: The last statement was an opinion from me. I'm in no way, shape, or form an expert on the shortcomings of human intelligence on internet forums that would cause people to put such disclaimers at the end of their posts because one shitfit erupted on another topic and they're afraid to get mercilessly flamed for their opinion. That being said, keep in mind that my opinion was just that: an opinion. Please don't mercilessly flame me. I'll cry. Srsly.)

This was a great horror film. One of the better films I've seen in a while. Great characters, awesome plot and setting. The look of the film was cool. The pace was great, what was there not to like ?? I was highly entertained from start to finish. A sequel could be very good. I thought the 28 Days sequel was better than the original so lets see what they come up with.

i agree w/ Johnny Horror. sequels CAN improve on the original (or at least be on the same level. i.e. 28 Wks Later was better than the original.) i'm excited for a 30 Days sequel.

Ain't happening folks... "Today, a report surfaced elsewhere pointing to Ghost House Pictures' plans to develop a direct-to-DVD sequel to 30 Days of Night. "I have no idea where this is coming from," 30 Days creator Steve Niles reveals to Shock with a bit of surprise. "There's not one bit of truth to that.""

oh god why. the first movie was so horrible! Here is how i see the ending! Lucky punch! The movie ended with a some newbie landing a lucky punch skull busting punch in some older more experienced creature.... I hope beforeIforget is right and is just a rumor!

I really didn't care for the first movie. They made the vampires look like gophers on crack. This sequel is going to be much worse; especially if it is going to be straight to DVD.

I'm so fucking happy to see a sequel to this movie but please releise it on the big screen...it deserves more! HOPE WE'LL SEE MELISSA GEORGE IN IT!

I hope this isn't true, because the movie was a stinking pile of boring crap.

It seems that people who comment don't read the other comments. Niles dismissed the whole sequel thing.

I liked the original comic books but didn't seen the movie yet. I expect to take a look at it soon.

What the hell? Straight to video? Damnit! And the '30 Days of Night' comics are amazing, a straight-to-DVD treatment would be ab insult. Personally, I found the sequels/prequels/spin-ffs of the '30 Days of Night' universe to be even better than the original plotline set at Barrow. Man, I was really looking forward to a sequel since the source material shows hope for a great film franchise. Oh well, too bad, I'll be skipping this cheap straight-to-DVD bullshit.

I love how people bitch about the ending of the movie... too bad that if they knew the SOURCE MATERIAL then you would know this was the original intent of the story. Hollywood didn't make it shitty, if you didn't like the movie or ending it was the way it was intended to be from the comics. I love how ignorant people are... yeah you have a right to your opinions, but you can't say the movie is bad because it was true to the source material!

I've recently seen the film and I'm currently looking for the comics. A sequel would be awsome! I just hope Melissa George returns, although if its straight-to-DVD I guess theres a strong chance she wont....I'm really hoping this turns out nicely.

30 days of night is easily the best horror movie i have ever seen and if there is a sequel going to be made i have one thing to say and thaat is that they better not fuck this sequel up and ruin the sequel or i will be majorly pissed
