MGM's new chairperson Mary Parent, who joined the company eight weeks go, sat down with Harry Sloan, MGM's chairman & CEO, for a conversation as part of the American Pavilion's ongoing series of panels and events at this year's CANNES. During the discussion, indieWIRE reports that MGM is planning on shooting thier remake of ROBOCOP in 3-D. "For MGM, among those is a continuation of Bond and Pink Panther sequels, an announced remake of "Fame" and a not-yet-announced remake of "RoboCop," possibly in 3-D. "'RoboCop" would be great in 3-D, as would something we're hoping to announce soon," said Parent." Thoughts?

I haven't cared about 3-D since I was 10.

No!!! I wish they'd stop with this 3D thing. It's like they want every movie to be 3D. It doesn't work in my opinion.

I didn't think it worked until about a month ago when I saw two films in 3D on space at an IMAX theatre with my school. Holy shit, was it awesome. If the quality of the future horror 3D films is as good as those two films I saw, then go ahead, and bring me the blood in 3D.

NO MORE REMAKES!! Robocop is my all time favorite film and it means a lot to me ... Peter Weller was insanely good as Robocop and they didn't replicate the quality with RC3 or the TV shows ... not gonna happen. Stupid morons! Elm Street Remake is bad enough ... :(

Robocop doesn't need a remake. It's perfect the way it was. And don't go saying it felt totally 80s. Because what Robocop was, and that it took place in the future, the original holds up DAMN we today, exploding toxic mutants and all! I don't think you can make a better Robocop movie than the original. There's NO way.

Robocop is a bit outdated. I'm fine with a remake as long as it doesn't lack on gore. The original director's cut was pretty bloody.

My favorite action movie of all time... and sadly I can't say I'm excited to hear about a remake :[

y remake this one!?! never cared about any other 3d movie before. i would of rather seen a sequel to three than a remake. crud first the fritay the thirteenth remake (which isnt nescessary, but sadly that film does look good from what the stuff i have seen on here), then the noes without freddy, whats next? nm i am afraid to ask on that one. cant any lambrain in hollywood come up with ORIGINAL ideas?!?!

The only 3D films worth seeing or paying for next year are Final Destination 4 and Aviator. No questions asked.

What a stupid idea. Robocop doesn't need a sequel/remake at all. Certainly not in 3D. This will be horrible. Glossy CGI big 3D shiny robots fighting. Sick... Without Paul Verhoeven this movie won't even have any of the tongue-in-cheek humour which made it so special either. Don't make it!!

As long as Paul Verhoeven is directing, the new movie will be great whether it's a remake or sequel. The 3D stuff won't make much of a difference.

By the way, Porn in 3D might be good.

i'll see pretty much anything if it's in the imax or 3D... doesn't mean i'll like it, but i'll still watch it... at least until the novelty factor wears off

Evil_Flip

3D never really worked for me. it's always more interesting on the box then actually watching it. Not to mention that this will probably be some ugly CGI extravaganza. not to mention that I don't get why we would 'need' more remakes even if they're in 3D

Is 'Robocop' horror now?

I bet they go for a PG-13, just like they did with the horrible Robocop 3.

I'm disappointed that Motion Picture Studios continue using remakes to develop new franchises [we're stuck with less quality horror films]. There is enough original talent out there [graphic novel - print - video games] which deserve a movie treatment [provided they don't insult your intelligence]. 3D can be fun if it works without giving you an optical headache.
