Now this is pretty rad, if you head on over to AMC you can check out an interview with special effects and makeup guru Allan A. Apone, who worked on the infamous FACES OF DEATH. Wait, you still thought the movie was real? It has been said that about 20-40% of the original film was real, with the rest being the work of geniuses like Apone. If you click the link you can read a really interesting interview that talks about keeping the secrets of DEATH, which is a collection of death scenes, ranging from TV-material to home-made super-8 movies. A remake is planned by J.T. Petty.

I have not seen the original in many years. But I'm sad to hear that most, if not all of it was a hoax. It really freaked me out when I first saw it as a teenager in the early eighties. I would rent the vhs tape multiple times and have friends over to watch it and we would just FREAK at what WE THOUGHT we were seeing.
I was lucky. Video stores around my house back when I was a kid carried them. I got the first 4 at the same time when I was about 12 or 13. A friend of mine and I sat there watching them all, then went out that night and told all of our other friends about it. We felt like such big men for having seen it, haha. Good times.
