Forget CLOVERFIELD, get ready for giant insects! Argentina’s Lucrecia Martel, whose “The Woman Without a Head” plays in Cannes’ Competition on Wednesday, will direct alien-invader action pic El Eternauta. Beginning with a deadly snow settling over Buenos Aires, “Eternauta” follows a small group of survivors battling alien invaders and their army of giant insects. The film will need a Spanish-speaking star, big setpieces and extensive f/x, Kramer said. Martel will begin writing the script after Cannes.
It´s a powerful history set in Argentina, my country!!
But there are many detractors with the film, specially the ones that read the comic (including me) and loved it, and the dangerous translation to the big screen is a problem.
Anyway, I hope the best for Lucrecia!
Will this also be set in the mid-late 50s in keeping with the source material? I love atomic age Sci-Fi and this puts me in the mind of films like Them, The Beginning of the End, Earth vs the Spider, The Deadly Mantis.....so many others. This could be something really good.
Actually, I can't remember if the comic was set in the 50s or simply had that particular 50s-atomic age style. Just a disclaimer.
