One thing here at Bloody-Disgusting that we're pretty proud of is staying on top of the must-see films from other countries. Last year we ranted and raved over the French horror films INSIDE and FRONTIER(S), both of which we hope you were more than satisfied with. This year, we received word from Cannes that you should be on the lookout for the French pic Martyrs, which the Weinstein Company acquired at this past November's AFM for US release (thus we'll probably never see it). Today we scored a look at a new poster, and dozens of stills from the film that we'll be following very closely here at B-D. Read on for a look.
France. A night at the beginning of the 1970s. Lucie, a little girl missing for over a year, is discovered wandering by the side of a country road. Near catatonic, she can say nothing about what has happened to her. The cops quickly find the place in which she's been incarcerated - a disused slaughterhouse. Every indication is that she never once left the empty, freezing room in which she was imprisoned. Filthy, starving, dehydrated, the child's body nonetheless bears no traces of sexual abuse - this was no pedophile abduction, but something far stranger. What happened in that icy room? And how did Lucie escape?
OH no, it's like with these great french movies popping out American horror films will be a dwindling memory. I'm scared abot that. It's like horror movies in USA are more focused on humor and nudity. They focuse more on like sex then AN ORIGINAL PLOT!THE J-horror industry better look out for the french, and the french better look out for the americans. J-horror will become lame and generic and the americans will try to remake every French horror flick. Is this what has become of the American horror film industry, remaking other people's shit?!?
no seriously, im lookn forward to this movie. inside was the shit. frontiers was gory but a let down nonetheless. high tension is still a fav. cant find a trailer for this this flick, so i guess we will have to wait. chuch.
yep , luks intrestin!!, lance666, u say inside was shit?? everybody to their own i guess, i thought it was excellent, gory bt very creepy aswell, one of the best horrors out last year, !!!
American horror is dead! It's been watered down to PG-13 Jap-remakes and crappy torture porn flicks which go straight to DVD.
France, Australia, Thailand and Spain are making the BEST horror film by far.
yeah, only a matter of time before the unoriginal american horror industry starts churning out big budget, limp dick versions of french horror. this movie looks promising!
Hopefully this is along the quality of "High Tension" or "Inside", I enjoyed both of those flicks. But I don't care what anyone says, there is no way to defend the horrible "Frontier(s)" film. That movie was pure, unoriginal, uninspired, unentertaining shit.
