Today we have a very special treat for you zombie addicts out there. Did you have a chance to check out the remake of Day of the Dead, which is now available on DVD at retailers everywhere? If you have, you might be interested in reading the final draft of the script that Jeffrey Reddick wrote. As you can see, it's quite different than the film that was delivered to you supportive fans. If you right-click here (then click 'save as') you can read the final draft for the film, which was based on the original film by George A. Romero. I'm curious as to what you guys think, don't you think the script is 100x better?
This was quite honestly one of the only movies (besides One Missed Call and The Fog remakes) that is fully deserving of the 'half a star' rating on B-D... maybe less for this turd... BUT, on a positive note, this script is better. I just wish they would've followed the original 'Day' more closely.
I refuse to see the film, especially now that I've read that abomination of a script. My point is this, and it applies to the remake of dawn as well: If you're going to write a new story with new characters in a new town, with a new problem, new technology, new monsters, and a new setting, why put an old title on it and dub it a remake? Why not "Steve Miner's THE INFECTED?"
And making a vegetarian zombie is simply unforgivable. Worst development in zombie lore sine Dr. Hill's batwings.
A. This film IS NOT a remake, it is based on the Romero film, yes, but not a remake of it. Obviously you can tell after watching the film.
B. This movie wasn't all that bad, right away people are going to expect it being exactly like '85 DOTD, it's not and personally that's what I like about it.
C. Yes the zombies were very different from previous zombie films, but again this is why I liked this movie.
A:Which part of this was based on the original? It bared no resemblance at all! It wasn't even similar! B:It's not our fault we wanted a faithful remake, it's their fault for naming it after a classic. C:Not a problem! New ideas are cool! JUST NAME IT SOMETHING NEW!!!!!!!!!
Could have been a great film had it not been titled Day of the Dead and considered the remake. If I had picked up this movie on the shelf without any hype I'd have been happy with it but to dub it Day of the Dead remake...It had a large pair of shoes to fill and never came close. Let's forget this was the remake and someone try again...
