Happy 4th of July! This morning Lionsgate has launched the official website for the highly anticipated return of Jigsaw in Saw V, which arrives in theaters October 24. Magazine, I stumbled across a piece of news that raised one of my eyebrows - Sigouney Weaver is still very much interested in returning as ALIEN heroine Ellen Ripley if 20th Century Fox would ever consider doing an Alien 5. I can't express how excited I am for Agnès Merlet's Dorothy Mills, which I hope is as cool as it looks. Today we finally got our hands on the trailer for the film, along with the international one sheet. Hitting theaters internationally this August, the Weinstein Company will release the film on DVD sometime in the near future. This 4th of July morning IGN posted an exclusive first look at the trailer for Knowing, the latest film from director Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow). The film tells the story of a man (played by Nicolas Cage) who unearths a time capsule with children's drawings predicting the future that was buried in the 1950s. One child's drawings predicted several horrible events that already have come true; however, one of those events has not yet occurred, and the man sets out to prevent it from happening. Channel 4 has painstakingly recreated the set of Stanley Kubrick horror film The Shining, complete with look-a-likes of the crew and cast members including Shelley Duvall, for a TV ad to promote a More 4 season of the director's films. Today Universal Pictures announced May 29, 2009 release for Sam Raimi's newest horror venture, Drag Me to Hell, which is an original tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to break an evil curse. In other release date news, Sony Screen Gems has changed the date for the Dowdle brother's Quarantine, the remake to Spanish horror film [REC]. Today a brand new pic was revealed from Universal Pictures' The Wolfman that features not only a better look at Benicio del Toro in his period piece costume, but also your first ever look at Anthony Hopkins in the film that is scheduled for release on April 3, 2009. Directed by Joe Johnston, Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Today the first official image was released from Paul Weitz's Cirque du Freak (set visit preview), which features your first look at John C. Reilly in action. In the Universal PIctures adaptation, Reilly will play a vampire who drafts a 14-year old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese. The studio bought rights in 2005 to a series of 12 books. Short but sweeeet news this afternoon as it was announced that The Goon has been optioned by acclaimed director and producer David Fincher and Academy-Award nominated Blur Studio to develop as a CG animated feature film, according to TheGoon.com. The Goon is a comic book series created by Eric Powell in 1999. The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.
