This past week B-D reporter SpookyDan was lucky enough to check out the set of 20th Century Fox's Jennifer's Body, which is currently lensing in Vancouver, Canada. Although we can't post our full report just yet, we were given the thumbs up to share with you a little preview piece. So read on for a few quotes from Oscar winner Diablo Cody, along with a few others and watch for the full report soon.

Earlier this week Bloody-Disgusting was treated to an early look at the filming of Diablo Cody’s JENNIFER’S BODY in Vancouver. Starring Megan Fox, story of a cheerleader who is possessed by a demon and starts feeding off the boys in a Minnesota farming town. Her "plain Jane" best friend must kill her, then escape from a correctional facility to go after the Satan-worshiping rock band responsible for the transformation. Because the film was ready to go before Cody won an Oscar, it didn’t seem to affect the film or anyone’s attitude about it -- JENNIFER’S BODY was prepped and ready before the Writer’s Strike happened. Megan Fox was attached and the green light was given before the end of 2007. What kind of horror can we expect from the new queen of dialogue? It would seem that Cody’s signature writing style is in place, but fans of JUNO will be surprised at the scares.

Producers Jason Reitman and Dan Baldecki have very specific ideas about the horror. Reitman talks to us about the different types of horror films in today’s society. “Most horror films today fall into what I think of as two categories, the slice and dice category, or the cold, really cold group of films that evolved out of THE RING. In both films there is a self-awareness, which came out of SCREAM. When I think of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, there is warmth to those teenagers, they were not aware that they were in the middle of a horror film, and I really loved those characters,” he explains. “That is what I felt when I read Diablo’s screenplay for JENNIFER’S BODY, there is a warmth to these characters and I really love these people, this is kind of a return to that…” Adding to this, Producer Dan Baldecki talks further about the scares and blending horror and comedy. “When it’s scary, it’s scary. The horror of the movie is not the hero of the movie; it’s a blend of horror-comedy and a relationship. Diablo is a huge fan of horror and she definitely plays tribute to what she loved growing up with. This film is about the relationships within and the horror is more of a metaphor for where the relationships have gone.

When we had the chance to talk to Cody, she had loads to say on writing the film. “I was trying to think of something that was legitimately scary to me, as opposed to a marketable horror idea. So I was sitting thinking what would actually scare me [and] what would frighten me? All I could think was ‘girls’ - teenage woman are terrifying, they can be really frightening, ruthless, irrational and evil,” Cody reacts to what sounds like teen-angst. “So I was thinking I could make a teenage girl the ‘Boogeyman’… in the classic sense. Even if you sort of avoided the mean girl crowd it still infiltrates your life, the constant judgment. Teenage boys are pretty harmless (so she think), but teenage girls… it’s territory that has been mined before with HEATHERS and CARRIE,” she continues, “It’s certainly not a new idea, but I just wanted to take it to another level. Society puts woman against each other - forcing us to be in competition. All your emotions are heightened when you’re a teenager, romantic relationships have a tendency to get really crazy and dramatic all those emotions create a very real atmosphere of terror.

Look for JENNIFER’S BODY to hit screen in the near future, and watch out this July for a Diablo Cody presented film festival in Hollywood, CA. Keep your eyes posted here as we’ll have a full report from the set coming in the near future.

The only thing that concerns me is Megan Fox's acting ability. But this script HAS TO beat Transformers, so maybe she'll do better with what she's got to work with. The idea is awesome, can't wait to see it.

True, Megan Fox isn't that great of an actress.
