UPDATE: Two hi-res posters inside. Today a new poster was discovered on Ebay for Rogue Pictures' upcoming home invasion movie, The Strangers, which arrives in theaters May 30. The poster is pretty amazing and features the three creepy stalkers in masks, check it out inside. The film is about a couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) in a remote suburban house who are targeted by three dangerous masked strangers. The resulting clashes force the couple to go well beyond what they thought themselves capable of in order to survive.
It doesn't sound or look like 'Funny games' at all drmodem. Funny games is an art film the only thing this shares with FS is people trying to kill other people. I am dying to see 'The strangers'. But there is so many posters already. It wasn't strange posting Liv Tyler because any actress/actor could be good.
Liv Tyler is just going the way of Nicole Kidman in The Others. Should be a creepy movie if it doesn't puss out and forget that it's a horror flick and not an action/romance.
It does look like funny games, but so much better. The masks alone look better than funny games, that movie sucked, The strangers look really good. Those masks are so simple yet kick ass. Kinda of michael myers'ish "the emotionless white face" type thing going on there.
It reminds me of the French film "Ils" (Them) In that movie, a couple has their home invaded by violent, masked strangers that later turn out to be a group of psycho kids.
Just to clarify, Ils was a great movie, but honestly, it wasn't the first, nor somehow the last, movie to be focused around a group of strangers accosting a family.
"Ils is really just like the Hills Have Eyes, I mean...for one thing it is freaks terrorizing a family they don't know, two, Ils is even in the word HILLS!"
</rant>
But honestly, I am so very much looking forward to this movie. I just don't like how much I am seeing the killers / assailants. The first time I saw the masked guy in theaters I about shit my pants, now I am not that creeped out.
I think horrorfan25 is wrong, the concept to me seems very similar to Funny Games. I can handle films like Hostel, but a family getting beaten up for two hours isn't my thing.
I hope it has a good creep out factor. I tend to prefer the anticipation of actions over the actions themselves. That's why I love the part in the trailer where Tyler is standing there and you see one of the strangers move out of the shadows while she doesn't notice. cliche, but fun.
this is nothing like funny games. if you have actually seen funny games, you would understand what i mean. (also, funny games was one of the worst movies i have seen in a loooong time)
like many people have already said, this looks to be based more on the french film "Them" which is also based on true events. i'm sure The Strangers is more of a loose adaption, but still. looks creepy!
southpark guy, this looks NOTHING like 'Them'. And if you think funny games is one of the worst movies you've ever seen then you really aughta explain why, cause I can't find a flaw.
Not enough on screen kills for you? That's the whole point.
HULK SMASH!!!.........wait wrong liv tyler movie but this is going to be good but I swear that guy's mask looks like an altered verison of the batman begins Scarecrow mask
I don't know if this is even going to be read at the bottom of the page and all, but doesn't this look like an American remake of Ils?...And I thought Ils was terrible by the way.
'Acephalic twit'? haha. You fuckin' loser. Just write in parenthesis before your post (I'm smart) and then type what you really wanna call me. haha. Regardless, what you said is pretty much the twist of the movie. Keeping it secretive throughout was the main source of tension for the majority of the film. Just sayin'. Hope no one reads it so they can fully enjoy the movie.
Yep. Im sold. I really going to see this on May 30th! The best birthday gift eva!!
