One of the best pieces of news we ever delivered to you was that Paul W.S. Anderson was not only off of directing Castlevania, but also would not be writing it. We received word last week that Anderson is officially back on writing the adaptation to the popular video game, which original was said to focus on the origins of Dracula and the uprising of the Belmont Clan, a vampire-slaying family who supposedly become humanity's last hope. As of now Sylvain White is still attached to direct for Rogue Pictures.

Worst news ever.

I second that. Let's see how he fucks up the storyline this time.

Storyline? Are you kidding me? In the game you walk around whipping things till they are dead...what story is there? As long as the hero uses a whip, and ends the movie fighting Dracula...I don't see how this can deviate much.

The worst thing (amongst many of his flaws) about Anderson is his writing. This is terrible news.

ultrazilla...you forget this is Paul W.S. Anderson we're talking about here. He can fuck up anything no matter how easy it is. You'll go into that movie looking for a whip and dracula and come out with a pocket knife and swamp thing.

I think I can imagine this entire movie already; Over-lit, lots of big smooth CGI monsters, silly over-the-top action with guns, whips, long jackets and obvious stunt-work with wires, and far too much thunder/lightning. Also a cast full of awful actors (some with really bad "vampire" accents). This is going to be horrible MTV junk with Paul W.S. Anderson back working on it.

If he keeps going the way he is, we will have to start calling him Uwe Anderson.

I think he'll do a fine job.

You must be joking? He's going to do a horrible job. The only real decent movie he made was Event Horizon. Other than that, everything's been over the top action. RE was pure freakish action, techno/pulse beat. A real RE movie would stick to the survival horror aspect and be more like your CLASSIC zombie flicks, or even 28 Days Later.

Well, if they re-title it "Crapsylvania" or something like that, I may see it out of appreciation for their honesty.

That Paul WS Anderson needs to die....

The only good movie Paul Anderson ever did was Mortal Kombat.

P.S. He even screwed up that storyline too.

I really liked "Soldier", but so far it was also his last decent film too.

sometimes I think i would rather NO castlevania get made, than have a bad one. i would like to see someone like sophia coppola and peter jackson team up and make a great romantic gothic beautiful yet violent and horrifying movie.

Oh Lord! Ya know every since I was a little kid and got my 8-bit nintendo system Castlevania was my very first video game and became my favorite gaming series of all time. Hoping someday a movie would be made out of this amazing series and finding out it's happening just thrills me. I really don't think they can mess this one up and have good faith that this movie will be great. However, if they do mess this one up I will be sure to have the directors head!!!!

The thing is, Castlevania is more than just horror. It's kinda some drama, some fantasy, some horror, some adventure and some action. Not to mention, there IS a story to go by. With some retcons already present, Anderson's original draft of the CV movie had NOTHING really to do with the games other than Belmonts and Dracula. From what I hear, the guy that did Death Sentence actually worked in some of the story bits from the actual games(especially references to Lament of Innocence). Anderson cares less about the actual game, more about what HE can do with the ideas. Again, the only good movie he did was Event HOrizon. THAT movie was badass. Everything else, crap.

Who will be working on the soundtrack? Castlevania is more than a movie, to people who played the game growing up, castlevania is a feeling. I think they have to get the original composers to do the soundtrack of it could ruin the whole feel of the movie. Imagine castlevania to a generic techno soundtrack, or worse some generic hollywood composition. KuKeiHa CLUB the original composers, are the only ones who can compose a soundtrack which can capture the unique castlevania feel. If I could I'd petition the director to hire these composers. There is really no excuse for not using KuKeiHa CLUB as the composers, they are better than most hollywood composers. To anyone who always wanted to know just who composed the castlevania soundtracks in the games, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kukeiha_Club
