Nearly 13 years after Top Cow's comicbook changed the industry, Platinum Studios, Top Cow Prods. and Arclight Films will team on a live-action feature adaptation of Witchblade, which centers on an ornate jewel-encrusted gauntlet that gives extraordinary powers to the wearer, a specially chosen female from each generation. The comicbook franchise has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide since debuting in 1995 and spawned a 2000 telepic that turned into a weekly series that ran for two seasons on TNT. The companies are already eyeing a location shoot in Australia.
I was hoping the TNT series wouldn't be the (first and) last incarnation of Witchblade. This is good news. Not as good as news of The Pang Brothers starting production on their adaptation of the Top Cow property 'The Darkness'. But good news, none the less.
Now, whatever happened to that 'The Magdeline' movie they were talking about a few months ago?
It's not really horror related, but I would love to see Witchblade in the big screen. I wish they would bring back Yancy Butler to reprise the role. She was made for the role.
