After Platinum Dunes passed on bringing a third TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE into theaters, it sounded as if the legend had officially come to a close, but Leatherface will never die and neither will the franchise. This weekend some interesting news hit the web that teases that a new entry is in the works, only without Platinum Dunes. Read on for the skinny.
Kim Henkel - who co-scripted the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE with Tobe Hooper and directed TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING - is developing yet another entry in the franchise, so he tells Fangoria. "I've just done the first draft, and I'm still unsure of which way I'm going to go with it. However, it's the first time since the original that I've done something that I wanted to do with it. I'm excited about being able to truly realize what I've put down on paper."
After the rights holders asked for too much money, the third film over at New Line Cinema was left in the hot Texas dusk. The new film is said to be set in the present and moves things forward.
Nothing official has been announced, so until then take this for what it's worth. If they ever did make another MASSACRE, what would you guys like to see?
