Yesterday we were all shocked when a sequel to DONNIE DARKO was announced. Today the first teaser poster was discovered for S. Darko (Samantha Darko), which picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie's death) when little sister Samantha Darko (Daviegh Chase) and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. Read on for a look.
I am keeping an Open Mind about this. It might well be a Good Movie. The poster looks fantastically good, almost par with the original. Keep it coming. And lets see how far the rabbit hole goes...
ThunderDragoon Donnie Darko's death is hardly the best kept secret. I hate this sequel already, why bother? Donnie Darko became a cult classic and now after all these years a sequel? They better not screw it up although i am quite sure those Hollywood whores will
Actually, I'm with icehockeyjoel on that one. Neither of those two movies stand up to their reputations at all, especially Scarface. Wait, isn't this about the S. Darko poster? Right. Uh, decent art and presentation, but my skepticism about the movie remains unmoved. It's a poster; an "advertising" campaign for the movie. The rule about judging a book by its cover applies here too.
Yeah ok, i was just flipping out over the news they were making this like yesterday and they already have a poseter...whatever, another chance to show my fury. WHY DOES THIS POSTER HAVE A RABBIT?!?! FRANK CAN NOT BE IN THIS MOVIE...NO ONE SEES HIM BUT DONNIE!!! THIS MOVIE IS STILL FUCKING BULLSHIT AND I CAN GARUNTEE THAT IT WILL SUCK A FUCK!!!
You know what...I thought about this. I FUCKING HATED THE IDEA OF A SEQUEL!!! BUT if done right, it may actually be good. But if it just sucks donkey cock...heads will roll. I hope they do the right thing. By the way, have you seen little Samantha Darko lately??? I'd toss her salad.
OH WAIT!!! That chick from Step up 2 is gonna be in it too. This is definitely a salad tossing event! Seriously though...somehow (don't ask me how) I have faith in this. hmmm...I think.
Well...Hollywood has no more original idears time to go destroy it. Whos with me on taking hollywood down come on people you know you wanna see the streets run red with horrible actors blood!!! ^^
Well, this is being made without the permission or cooperation of the original film's creator. So I'm expecting something like 'Butterfly Effect 2' rather than a decent sequel.
If Richard Kelly had anything to do with this I'd be happy. Unfortunately, BellPepper is right. It's just a cash-in. Consider that Donnie Darko didn't even do well in the US. It wasn't until its DVD release that it even accumulated a cult following. So expect essentially a dumbed down remake of the original film.
is that the same chick that played samarah in the ring 1 and 2? name sounded familiar......i never understood donnie darko. i thought that it was a very wierd strange movie. all i rememvered from watching it that drew barrymore stared in it. and a big rabbit.
Why must people make sequels from cult classic movies like this one, there is no need and lets face it the only reason anyone would go see this is out of boredom! Sequels are welcome for movies that demand further exploration Donnie Darko was awesome and final. I can see s.DARKO going straight to DVD and for this reason I will see this movie but only if the movie I really wanted is out and I need the sleep aid.
Oh, COMEON!!! You guys have to be kidding me, you support this idea?! This makes about as much sense as a "Fight Club 2: Tyler Durden Lives!" The first one rocked in its ambiguity and interpretation. It was unique, fun, and it made statements about modern American suburbia. This sequel will run all that into the ground, you guys can mark my words.
I'm sure this will be a D-t-dvd release.
I was SO happy to see the words Donnie Darko 2... then it was followed by shear disappointment when i reads it was minus Richard Kelly.
Donnie Darko doesn't need a sequel, first off. Secondly, is Daveigh Chase recast as the sister again? Third, you can't have Frank the Rabbit in this one, because that was particular to just Donnie since he was the one who killed him. Plus, no Richard Kelly. This'll probably not be very good at all.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw her name on the poster upon a closer look. At least they managed to get her back. I wonder if they'll get Maggie Gyllenhall and the rest of the cast back as well. That'd be the only potentially cool part.
Also: The absence of Jake Gyllenhall's outstanding performance will be another reason why this movie won't be nearly as good. What would be a mind trip, though, is if Frank the Rabbit was Donnie in this one, but that wouldn't make any sense at all. Just saying.
Oh, fuck. This looks retarted. The first one was....amazing. It doesn't need a sequel.
