I'm proud to announce that we have enlisted the great Steven Schneider to write for Bloody-Disgusting. Schneider is extremely accomplished in the film industry and will be writing a regular column entitled ROOM 101, which will tackle various topics in our favorite genre. Click the link to read his first entry "HORROR FILMMAKING IN THE AGE OF TERROR" or read on for Steven's bio. Feel free to ask him questions under his articles, challenge him, argue with him or just show support. We hope this will give you even more to do at B-D and bring more accomplished writing to the site. Horror deserves the extra love!
Steven Schneider received MA degrees in Philosophy at Harvard University and Cinema Studies at New York University, and an MPhil in Philosophy at The University of London. He is the author/editor of a dozen books on world cinema, including the international bestseller 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (published in ten languages), Psychoanalysis and the Horror Film: Freud's Worst Nightmares (Cambridge University Press), Fear Without Frontiers: Horror Cinema Across the Globe (FAB Press), New Hollywood Violence (Manchester University Press), Horror International (Wayne State University Press), Dark Thoughts: Philosophic Reflections on Cinematic Horror (Scarecrow Press), Underground USA: Filmmaking Beyond the Hollywood Canon (Wallflower Press), Traditions in World Cinema (Edinburgh University Press) and The British Film Institute’s 100 European Horror Films. His latest book, The Horror Film (co-authored with Jonathan Penner), will be published by Taschen in 2009.
In 2003, Schneider moved to Los Angeles to become a film producer. He is currently in a first-look producing deal at Paramount Pictures, with dark genre projects set up at various studios (including DreamWorks, Paramount Vantage, Warner Independent Pictures, MGM, Participant Productions, Intermedia, Hammer Films, AMC and MTV Networks).
