'Cloverfield' Cameraman Jokes Death With B-D!

Last week Bloody-Disgusting caught up with T.J. Miller, who plays the cameraman "Hud" in Paramount Pictures' Cloverfield (review), which is now available on DVD everywhere, with a Bu-ray release arriving on June 6. Beyond the break you can read our short exclusive chat with the comedian who nearly survives a run-in with a giant monster in New York City.

Last week we spoke to T.J. Miller while he was in Pittsburgh shooting his next film called SHE'S OUT OF MY LEAGUE. Miller is best know at the funny cameraman "Hud" in Paramount Pictures' giant monster movie CLOVERFIELD. MIller tells us he's a comedian at heart and was happy to finally be able to put his talents to use. "I’m a comedian, that’s what I have been doing, I am pretty happy that CLOVERFIELD turned out the way it did. I just tried to give them comedy that’s organic and real, and comes from the character."

The entire film was shrouded in secrecy and Miller spills the beans on how this was achieved. "To keep things secret on set, they kept a silenced gun aimed at every actor at all times just to make sure we didn’t talk about anything," he jokes. " We couldn’t talk about anything until it came out, and even then a lot of questions were left unanswered, and we (the cast) don’t know the answers.

In the film five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.

At the end of CLOVERFILED something falls into the water, Miller might have an idea what it is (spoiler warning). "[It was] probably the other half of my body… maybe it’s my legs? None of us really know what it actually is..."

But seriously, what could he know about the sequel if they had silencers pointed at all of their heads? "I know absolutely nothing about the sequel, I know as much as I did about the first one… which was nothing."

What we know is that Matt Reeves will return to direct CLOVERFIELD 2 while Paramount Home Entertainment has just released CLOVERFIELD on DVD everywhere, with Blu-ray to follow on June 6.
