Imagination Worldwide has provided Bloody-Disgusting with your exclusive first look at the sales poster for Cannibals, their companion piece to the legendary shocker CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. From creator Ruggero Deodato, Andre Koob and Pierre David (Scanners, Videodrome), this new take on the franchise was written by Christine Conradt and will be directed by Deodato. I really like that they aren't disrespecting the original and giving the new film a life of its own - your thoughts? Read on for a look at the poster.

This feels like those late 80's early 90's sequels to popular horror films where they move the villain into the city. Gremlins 2, F13 Part 8, Poltergeist 3, etc... Let's hope this one is actually good, though.

I hope this doesn't suck. It doesn't seem like it. But, how will they transfer the horror of being a foreigner into the city?

How unfortunate that most people who log on to this site don't know about the original Cannibal Holocaust. It really is a timeless classic. But realistically speaking, Cannibals in the city I don't think will work. I mean, once you get past the gang-bangers, mobsters, bikers, homeless people, violent crack-addicts, devil worshippers and your everyday crazy, drunken fuckers - Cannibals just ain't going to seem like the scariest thing you've seen all day in the urban world. That concept works better in the jungle when it's just you, the mosquitos and them. But that's just me. I'll still probably watch it. Fuck it!

I really wasn't a fan of the original Cannibal Holocaust, mainly because I didn't like the direction or the pacing. It's a very unforgiving film and I'm not sure how it would translate into a new release such as this. I'm finding the current zombie movie trend a bit tiring and insincere, so with some luck this could be something a bit more original. I've just got a feeling from the city setting that it'll stick to the current trend of big-budget apocalyptic horror.

in response to GoreFreak saying "I hope they don't go all 28 weeks later", dude what could you possibly mean!? That movie rocked! It was intense and violent and most of all gory as all outdoors! If Deodato can make a film even half as unnerving i'll be surprised. He doesn't have the element of shock that he had back in the day, because most things have been done nowadays. I'm not going to write him out but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be tripe crap like most new horror flicks. I mean Cannibals in the city? C'mon! If he makes that frightening then he truly is a horror great. I'm crossing my fingers.

Approaching with EXTREME caution. Didn't really like the original. it just felt like cheap chock value to me, and yes I know that it's a statement on the media and greed and such, which is ironic since deodato buys into the system he seems to be criticizing, by releasing movies like this. Fun violence is fun, but pretentious violence is obnoxious. I know others feel differently, it's just my opinion.

Honestly, I really don't shit my pants at the prospect of a cannibal movie. There have been hundreds upon hundreds of movies about people who kill people and the only difference is that a cannibal simply chooses to eat the victim before/during/after the kill. And we've seen that plenty of times as well. There's nothing innovative here, no big treat. The big selling point mentioned on the poster is that they're putting cannibals into a commercial city setting. Really? That's it? Is that all you've got up your sleeve? A different environmental setting? We've also seen "that" countless times. What big thing in this movie could I possibly be on the edge of my seat waiting for? Brutal violence? We've seen so much brutal, horrible, graphic violence in movies already that most of us are practically experts in physiology. So, no, not even violence. This movie's got nothing.

I hate to come across as all high and mighty, but I agree with BloodyCape - no one needs to get hurt for a bit of gory fun, including animals. There's nothing special about the original that makes ignoring it's cruel and inhumane background worthwhile.

I'll likely see this movie when it comes out, since Cannibalism is something that truly disturbs me. Unlike killing an animal and devouring it on camera doesn't offend me nearly as much as the idea of humans devouring one another. Poor animals, but soup is on.

Although I firmly believe that killing helpless animals for ANY REASON is wrong, I will say I read in an interview that the cast actually cooked and ate the turtle. Not sure how true that is, but it's still an impossible scene for me to watch. However, I give the original film some props. It had decent suspense, crazy gore scenes, a haunting score and beautiful cinematography. It may not be a classic, but it's not as bad as some say. As for the new film...what a joke. All of these Italian directors are trying to make a comeback. Let's face it, most of these old films were so great because they were made in the 70's, the times were different and many were pioneering new ideas. Uli Lommel's new DTV films are terrible, Lamberto Bava's "Ghost Son" left a lot to be desired and Argento has been pretty hit or miss since the 90's. If Ruggero is going to make a comeback, why not try something original. Cannibal Holocaust has a real negative history, so is it really wise to base his whole comeback around ANOTHER cannibal film? Let alone "Cannibals In The City" Ugh.

Trace the progeny of Cannibal Holocaust -- from films like The Blair Witch Project right through to Cloverfield -- and you'll understand why Deodato's film is responsible for much of what we genre fans enjoy today. Cannibal Holocaust is unassailably, unimpeachably, undeniably great! Long live Ruggero Deodato! Bring on Cannibals!

The use of subjective camera in film was not a breakthrough in story telling that Deodato made. Examples of it can be seen as far back as the 1947 Humphrey Bogart film "Dark Passage." The use of it in studio films especially cannot be traced back to Cannibal Holocaust since no one would pitch a film like Cloverfield to a studio like Paramount using a rather obscure horror film from the 80's as a reference or example of why it will work in their film. They would site the success of the Blair Witch Project as how this technique can be financially viable. And that was independent, so it didn't go through the approval process that larger budget examples of the technique did.

One becomes a Food Network host, another opens a restaurant, one an OBGYN and you can't leave out the food critic. They're just misunderstood and want to fit in! Can't wait!
