Can you imagine if Ruggero Deodato's CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST was in 3-D? It was announced last night that Demian Lichtenstein (3000 Miles to Graceland) is set to direct 3-D action feature RELENTLESS for Baldwin Entertainment. The $25 million movie will star Kiwi actor Karl Urban. It will shoot this September in Puerto Rico, produced by Eric Mitchell. It’s the story of four extreme sports professionals who survive a plane crash in the Amazon jungle, and must use all their survival instincts as they are hunted by a group of homicidal natives. I can only hope that these natives are thirsting for some human flesh, if not... we won't cover this any more (wink).
Ahh...Cannibal Holocaust. There can be only one - like Highlander. Don't get me wrong, I would love a modern version of that concept that also has that intensity level and realistic creepiness. I just don't think a big studio has got the balls to even try attempting one/third the shit that was in that film. And I don't think the rape scene would work well in 3-D either.
