Today G4TV hosted the official trailer for NBC's upcoming horror anthology, Fear Itself, which will debut on June 5. You can take your first look at the series by reading beyond the break, and watch this spot for updates on all films as they come in.
I don't know...I mean Masters of Horror was not bad hell some of it was fantastic, but it being on Showtime really let them do allot of things. These films seem very cookie cutter to me. But like 'AnchorBayRules', I'll give it a try I guess.
The stories look very derivative. Going by the teasers, "Sacrifice", for example, is essentially "30 Days of Night", the villain in "Eater" bares some strange resemblance to Dee Snider's Capt. Howdy in Strangeland, with "Community" I'm getting a weird 'Wicker Man' vibe (though it is nice to see Brandon Routh working again).
This time around the only directors that intrigue me are Brad Anderson and Darren Lynn Bousman.
I'm curious as to how either of these two people found the time to direct episodes of this show.
Without the support of Jeffrey Combs I'm not at all interested in what Stuart Gordon has done here. From what they showed of his "Eater" episode it looks too much like a sequel to "Incident On And Off A Mountain Road" complete with the Moonface character.
ummm...hmmmm...undecided. Can't say I trust NBC. Eh, already forgot what that video was about. I'm gonna go take a shit...perpaps it'll refresh my memory.
With the freedom Masters of Horror had, it did NOTHING to improve the actual content. If anything, the scripts were written badly(even though the directors tried their best). The whole "On Showtime they could do anything they want" only meant to add extra gore, cursing and nudity because, frankly, all that SAVES a movie or television show that lacks a good script!! Bullshit. If anything, anthology horror shows like Twilight Zone, Tales from the Darkside, Outer Limits, Night Gallery and some others prove that you don't need over gore, over sex or cursing to make truly fucking creepy stories. And that, my friends, is how you succeed in horror. You aren't suposed to rely on JUST gore or nudity. That's all garnish on the cake. Mind you, I don't think they'll slack off in the gore department. A lot of crime dramas are gory. I recall watching an episode of Law & Order(which is also on NBC) where a room was basically splattered with blood all over the walls, and there were bodies and chunks of meat everywhere. If Law & Order can get away with that, Fear Itself can as well!!
Excellent points, Magnaderalpha, one and all. You just saved me a couple paragraphs so I'll just leave everyone with this:
Some guys would complain if you gave them a check for a million dollars while they're getting a blowjob.
Fear Itself is going to rock. Relax you whiners.
some look good,some look bad,
but I'll check it out.
