Look how long it took some movies to finally hit regular dvd. It's going to be the same for high def. Some movies will be lost, others will just take a lifetime to make the move.
My bf already has this on Blu-ray. As far as Rear Window, I, too, would LOVE nothing more for Universal to release their huge Alfred Hitchcock catalog on Blu-ray.
