Uwe Boll Sues Billy Zane Over 'BloodRayne'

Director Uwe Boll has sued actor Billy Zane in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming he's owed at least $700,000 in revenues from the 2006 boxoffice flop Bloodrayne. Boll claims in the April 30 filing that Zane was the one who suggested Romar Entertainment handle distribution of the film. Zane and Romar principal James Schramm allegedly promised the film would open in 2,000 theaters and that a $10 million advance from Boll would be used for advertising and promotion. But at least $900,000 was paid out to Zane and Schramm and the movie opened in only 950 theaters, Boll claims. The film's budget was $25 million and brought in just under $4 million at the worldwide boxoffice (ouch).

Boll seems determined to destroy what "career" he has left (if any). besides making bad films and this story, he (from what i've read online) is pushing to release his next film (i forget the name) on the same day the new Indiana Jones comes out. he's said in interviews that his movie will outsell (tix) Indi. what a tool!!!

If I'm reading this right, Boll actually invested in his own film. I knew this guy was a moron (his movies are proof of that) but paying for almost half the budget of a film that no one wanted to see is beyond stupid. Promise or no, considering Boll started out as an accountant, it strikes me as odd that he would agree to something so financially unsound. Did he seriously think the movie would make as much as he invested? You reap what you sow, Boll. And while I don't actually supporting stealing money from a moron just because he's a moron and able to get away with it, as long as Boll isn't starving because of losing his money, I could care less that this hack was tricked out of his money. Think how often people invest in the stock market and lose big. With this, Boll actually had an opportunity to make a decent film that would make back more than his budget, and chose not to expend the effort. He makes intentionally bad movies and expects to be paid money for his failures. He's finally getting what's coming to him.

Sounds like a sore loser to me. Then again, sometimes I swear It's this strange humor only Uwe Boll gets.

Well, I follow all things Uwe. Sure, his movies suck, but I'm always ready for another. The initial announcement for the release of Bloodrayne was, indeed 2,000 theaters, which would have helped it to make "a little" more money. I'm not saying it would have made back the initial investment, but it would have helped. I'd say he's got a case if it's found that Romar was responsible for not providing their end of the deal. However, if theater managers saw the name Uwe Boll and said "No thanks. We don't want to show that POS" then he's fucked.

Boll didn't have to follow Zane's suggestion. He doesn't have much of a case. Boll just wants extra money so he can make Metal Gear Solid or something. Boll is a douche, but i really didnt need to confirm that

Zane doesn't care, he's centered.

How do we find out who the morons are that paid to see the film in theaters? Because they need to be taken out of the gene pool.
