We received official word that Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza will both we returning in Pathe's The Descent 2, which looks to have finally dropped the ridiculous moniker (The De2cent). The film is in pre-production with Jon Harris attached to direct from a screenplay by James Watkins. Neil Marshall will produce alongside Christian Colson. In addition, you can read the OFFICIAL synopsis by heading beyond the break. Watch for more news soon.
THE DESCENT 2 picks up immediately after the events depicted in THE DESCENT
Sarah (MacDonald), emerges alone from a cave system following an expedition with her five friends in the Appalachian mountains. Distraught, injured and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Skeptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah's psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines forces her back into the caves to help locate the rest of the group.
Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party are driven deep into the caverns, and as one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed, Sarah is forced to confront her deepest fears.
Dariofulci... I only saw the US theatrical version or I saw it on Stars (a cable channel) and I really liked it. How did the director's cut ended? What was the difference between the two?
Hmm, sounds like the original teatment you guys posted a few months ago which is great because its very rare now days that you actually get sequels that picks up after the original. Most sequels wanna do their own things.
The first one was a pretty good little film, I'll deffinatley check this one out.
I don't really like the plot. I was hoping for part 2 to be totally different. I wanted those crawlers to come out at night and kill a bunch of people in the mountains.
Oh god, it looks like that treatment posted a while back was RIGHT! The original movie was good because of what it did with character drama and paranoia. But, from what the treatment present, it's going to be yet another shallow American horror movie.
sounds OK at best nuthing like this is even comin close to the first on though the first one, in my opinion, was a masterpiece!
and how the fuck is natalie Jackson in this!!!?!?!
i thought she was dead?
lol wtf

Les Simpson, one of the Crawlers from the original, was approached to reprise his role in "The Descent II" but turned it down and I applaud him. The first film was SO good - leave well-enough alone!
The problem with The Descent 2 is that the original told a very good story and tied it off well. I was appauled at how the ending of the original was changed for the American audiences but it's clear now that this was done to secure the plausibility of a sequel. The idea of Sarah going back into the caves is totally ridiculous!
