If you read on you'll find the Cannes Promo Trailer for It's Alive, the remake to the classic '80s horror film, which I first saw this past November at AFM. The Davies expecting a baby which turns out to be a monster with the nasty habit to kill when it's scared. And it's easily scared... Bijou Phillips (Hostel: Part II), James Murray and Raphael Coleman star in the Josef Rusnak directed remake, which looks pretty damn fun.
Would it picky to point out it was a 70's horror film? Either way the original is very much of its time, reflecting many social concerns. I wonder how the new version will tie in to current debates.
Very interesting. No mutant baby at all?? I hope it does not look normal because that is what the original is all about. I wont fight the remakes because it's useless, they will keep coming, but please, you "Hollywood bitches", keep some sort of the original plot to your remakes. I don't mind an update, but KEEP THE PLOT!!!!!
ScarecrowX,
I think I read that the idea is to focus on genetic choice. Now people have this ability to pick every aspect of their baby (hair color, etc), and this kind of absurd belief of having the "perfect" child. I heard that's what they're going to focus on.
Part of me also thinks the baby must have an ability to physically change into a more dangerous creature.
I'm interested.
It doesn't bother me that the baby doesn't look like a mutant all the time. All the good remakes in the past have changed the plot, and that's good, b/c making the same movie again is pointless.
The idea is still there it's AN EVIL FUCKING BABY it just looks normal.... which unlike the mutated motherfucker from the first one actually makes it that much creepier because it's not a fucking little monster you know is evil from the second you look at it....it's just a baby.....that secretly will kill you if you don't pay attention which is ALWAYS A PLUS!!
The concept of it's alive is that what if a child was born into the world and was made to do nothing but kill? that's the concept not what would you do if you had some weirdo looking baby that slaughtered people
Besides, the original just isn't that good. The acting ranges from descent to pretty bad, not really sure it's their fault, since they pretty much all seem unable to make their lines sound natural, and the directing pretty much sucks. The whole film pretty much feels like they had 92 minutes of film, so everything had to be done in one take, and the actors had just gotten their scripts the day before. The original is fun, but this remake makes a lot of sense.
I was thinking that maybe the father adopted another baby as to no upset his wife. Then the mutant baby comes looking for them. Just a thought.
Kaname Tousen, the actual concept of It's Alive is what if, due to pollution etc., your baby came out a deformed monster bent on killing. It was more to do with the status of our climate and what it could do to us.
And the sequel will be called: 'It's STILL alive!'
This looks awesome. However I'm not sold on the name. Of course it's alive. A movie about a DEAD monster baby would probably be less interesting.
