Universal Announces 'The Mummy' Special Editions

For those of you who don't have Blu-ray yet, Universal Home Entertainment finally announced special edition releases of THE MUMMY remake and it's sequel THE MUMMY RETURNS, which both star Brendan Fraser. The special editions will arrive on July 8, while the Blu-ray editions are expected a few weeks later. Read on for all of the specs.

DVD Active reports that Universal has announced a deluxe edition of The Mummy which stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras will include 3 commentaries (with Director Stephen Sommers and Editor Bob Ducsay, with Actor Brendan Fraser, and with Actors Oded Fehr, Kevin J. O'Connor and Arnold Vosloo), a digital copy of the film, deleted scenes, featurettes (An Army To Rule The World Part 1, Unraveling The Legacy Of The Mummy, Visual And Special Effects Formation, Building A Better Mummy, Egyptology 101: Pharaoh Lineage), a photograph montage, a Storyboard To Final Film Comparison, the theatrical trailer, and a sneak peak at The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor.

Also available from the 8th July will be a deluxe edition of The Mummy Returns. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a commentary with Director/Writer Stephen Sommers and Executive Producer/Editor Bob Ducsay, a digital copy of the film, featurettes (An Army To Rule The World Part 2, Unraveling The Legacy Of The Mummy, Visual And Special Effects Formation, Spotlight on Location), a conversation with The Rock, Egyptology 201, a Live "Forever May Not Be Long Enough" Music Video, and a sneak peak at The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor. The artwork hasn't been revealed yet.
