Blockbuster Censors 'Inside' DVD Release?!

Over the past week I've been receiving a double does of e-mails regarding Dimension Extreme's Inside (review), which is now available at all retailers and Blockbusters nationwide. For every glowing e-mail from a reader who agreed with my review, there was one who didn't. The amount of e-mails that I received was pretty perplexing and out of the norm, which had me scratching my head - until today. We discovered that Blockbuster Video has censored the release of the French slasher film cutting a whopping seven minutes of blood and guts out of the film! So all of you haters who rented the film at Blockbuster, drop me a line because I am quite curious to see how bad it was demolished. Dimenson has an exclusive deal with Blockbuster, which sucks because Dimension Extreme is going to have plenty of unrated titles released through it. Screw you Blockbuster, I'm 28-years-old and don't need you to tell me what I can or can't watch. Man I'm FURIOUS. What do you guys think? I'm going to hit up Blockbuster today and go take a look.

Ever since I was a youngster I hated B-Buster for refusing to carry unrated horror films. Except, of course, Evil Dead 1 and 2, since they were two of the highest rented horror flicks. I supported as many indie rental shops as possible, until it became near impossible to find one remotely near me. Now they're at it, again? Remember that stupid "exclusive" version of Requiem For A Dream? What a bunch of fucking go-tards. Fuck them up their fucking asses.

No wonder Blockbuster isn't doing too well these days.

After reading this, I'm so glad I bought it instead of going to rent it at Blockbuster. The first thing I did when I got home was watch this movie...and I've got to say...it is the most nasty, disturbing, maliciously awesome movie.

see, this is why i deal with netflix. i've never understood what gave Blockbusters the right to change someones product. my best guess for the interference is because a baby's involved.this film can't possibly be any more violent than the SAW films.typical of american cinema though. it's alright to show shit blowing up or a woman getting her breast chopped off but show a child in peril or a penis and people lose their fucking minds.

I worked at a video store for about 12 years. It has always been a well known "secret" that Blockbuster edits DVD's.

BTW i haven't walked into a Blockbuster in 4 years...so fuck'um.

I hope everyone here does what I did. I walked into blockbuster to rent the film, and saw it was rated R, and walked out, empty handed. Drove over to walmart and just baught the movie. If you dont want to buy it, download it. NOT renting the edited blockbuster crap will hopefully send Dimension the message.

I agree with Chococat. That's what i have been saying for years on my myspace. No one should even bother renting any of blockbuster's shitty edited PG-13 or R Rated horror movies when they are supposed to be NC-17 or Unrated. I put Inside on my netflix queue. screw blockbuster. they r all a bunch of idiots. go check my myspace out...i even have the title of my page about being anti blockbuster haha.

as a former Blockbuster employee I would just like to say fuck them. Blockbuster is a terrible, horrible company that doesn't give two shits about its employees or customers and that sort of behavior should not be endorsed nor tolerated. I urge everyone to not support Blockbuster with any sort of business. [/rant]

oh, I forgot to mention how fucking amazing Inside is. I bought it on Tuesday and have already watched it three times. It is well worth the money.

I rented it before I had even known what I did. I was pissed, and immediately went and bought the DVD. So I guess I fell into their marketing without even realizing it. Bummer.

I don't rent movies. I buy them. Solves the problem relatively well, I'd say.

This is complete and total bullshit. Unfortunately with the "normal" renters out there Blockbuster will ptrobably still make their money from it. Inside is one of the best and most brutal straight out horror flicks I've seen in a looong time and it deserves to be seen in it's uncut glory. That really says something about Blockbuster when even Wal-Mart (who is notorious for edited CDs) carries the unrated version...

Blockbuster can blow me. Oh, by the way, there is a article in the new Entertainment Weekly about Sony Screen Gems and the PG-13 bullshit they put out. The Stepfather remake will be PG-13 as well as a remake of Fright Night, and they want to do a PG-13 remake of fucking HELL NIGHT. We horror fans are screwed!!!!

I already knew Blockbuster would only carry the Rated version of "Inside". What is even more enraging is that Blockbuster has been carrying Unrated titles for a few years now, but for some reason only carries the rated version of Inside. Other Dimension Extreme movies like "Storm Warning" and "Automation Transfuison" were carried by Blockbuster Unrated. (but those two movies pail in comparison to Inside.) I also noticed a few months back that Blockbuster also only carried the Dimension Extreme release of the "Broken." Blockbuster is obviously singling out movies or something.

Blockbuster should be shut down. They should be ashamed!!!!!

I work at Blockbuster and I did not know that they did that. It just makes me wonder what other shit they have done to other movies. The good thing is though is I recieved a free Cloverfield Slusho shirt to celebrate Cloverfield getting released, but thats it. This does not suprise me, they are always finding ways to screw the customer over.

Aslo Blockbuster is a "Christian" based company. That might be part of the reason, they do not want anything to extreme. Yet they do carry a lot of unrated horror films now. Mostly everything that comes out at my store is unrated, unless it has the dual option or do not have an unrated edition.

I saw "Requiem for a Dream" in the theater, and was about to purchase a used VHS copy of the movie at Blockbuster a few months later, but when I got to the counter, I realized I was holding the "R-rated" cut of the film. I told the Blockbuster employee I didn't want the film because it was an edited version. She said, "They didn't edit out anything important, just some sex and violence at the end." No, you dense Blockbuster bitch, they cut out the scene where Jennifer Connelly rocks a double-ended dildo. That's important shit. I chucked a lit molotov cocktail through their front window later that night.
