20th Century Fox has been doing their best to keep the plot for X-Files: I Want to Believe under wraps, but thanks to the good ol internet, we've got the skinny. Today a fan site scored the synopsis from the back of the upcoming novella of the feature film, which can now be read inside. In addition to the plot, you can also check out a seventh still that was discovered late last night. X-FILES 2 arrives in theaters July 25, you will believe...

X-Files News scored a look at the synopsis from the back of the novel:

Mulder and Scully are back in the thrilling novelization of the summer 2008 blockbuster movie based on the classic X-Files TV show! When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable “visions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. It’s a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere...and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!

Sounds good to me. Who wants to bet on the rating? The last one was PG-13, but depending on how much they show of the "grotesque human remains", it could be R.

You had me at "grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway." Seriously though...disgraced priests, secret medical experiments, the agents being forced back into action - this sounds fucking awesome...werewolf or no werewolf.

I think it'll be just fine with a pg 13 rating. the last one was pg 13 and none of the tv episodes had a TVMA rating. not that it really matters any way because i don't think anyone THAT young is going to even care about this movie but i don't think it needs an R rating.

Can't wait to see it. Looks like it might be as great and scary as the earlier episodes.

I attended the X-Files panel last night at the New York Comic Con where Chris Carter spoke. He confirmed that the movie will be PG-13 but will pushing grotesque and disturbing in the film.. This is fine because XF always did a great job of evoking feelings of terror and horror without being 'R'.

Gillian Anderson looks painfully slim as she did in the dire Straigheads move or as it is known in the US as Closure. She could have at least ate a pie or something with more than 5 calories...I suppose it kindof fits into the characters if you imagine that following the aftermath of the series both of them have been stressed and fearing for each others lives certainly with the FBI overrun by super soldiers...Scully would naturally loose her need to feed while mulder looks kind of beer happy which again should be expected...he was right about everything, not crazy, aliens are real I think that would make anyone want to PARTY with booze and stuff.
