MGM has slated Drew Goddard's (Cloverfield) latest project, The Cabin in the Woods, for release October 23, 2009, although early announced dates like these rarely stick. In addition, MGM is putting the film out a week before Lionsgate's Saw VI, which will hit theaters on October 30th. I'm not quite sure it's such a good idea to let them go head-to-head as Jigsaw will ruin Goddard's (short) camping trip. WOODS is being co-written by fan fav Joss Whedon. No details have been released for either film.

A film that I had been tinkering with covering here on Bloody-Disgusting is Henry Selick's (The Nightmare Before Christmas) latest stop-motion animated movie (in 3-D!), Coraline, which is based on a series by Neil Gaiman. With every story we miss, I get more and more e-mails asking me why I refuse to cover it. Until today I thought I was just going to pass on it, but after watching Rotten Tomatoes' fifth exclusive behind-the-scenes video it seems apparent I should be all over this film. In the video found inside, Selick explains that CORALINE is "Scary and spooky and filled with creepy-crawler things..." The imagery also screams horror, even though Dakota Fanning (yuck) provides her voice. Read on for a link to five behind-the-scenes videos and watch for more CORALINE soon. ...Read More
