It was reported via TackingB.com that Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (Piranha remake) have currently scripted a remake to the 1983 slasher pic The House on Sorority Row. No other details were revealed, but another remake is on the way. In Mark Rosman's original, after a seemingly innocent prank goes horribly wrong, a group of sorority sisters are stalked and murdered one by one in their sorority house while throwing a party to celebrate their graduation. I personally don't see this film being released with that cheesy '80s title, but I guess we'll see soon enough.
I don't mind a remake of this film b/c I've always wanted one hahaha. I just hope this won't be another shitty remake because I really love this movie. The House on Sorority Row is one of the few films that I can watch over and over again without getting tired of it. I hope Sony stays the fuck away from this b/c I want a good director, writer, cast and this has to be rated R. Oh I really hope Mischa Barton gets a role b/c a girl from the original film looks exactly like her. This could be a fun remake so Hollywood better not fuck this up. Now I'm waiting for remakes of: The Burning, The Prowler, Happy Birthday To Me and Hell Night to be announced.
The original was an excellent slasher flick and one of my favorites. Everytime I hear of an '80s horror flick being remade, I sort of get disturbed at the thought but I'm curious about this one being remade. Of course, it will never be better then the original but I am curious as to who will be cast as the sorority babes of the house. Hopefully, the producers and director will look at recent horror films such as Black Christmas, House of Wax and When a Stranger Calls to get the pick of female horror victims to headline the next addition in the remake category.
