We ran into Danny Trejo at this past weekend's HorrorHound Weekend in Indiana where the popular genre actor told Bloody-Disgusting that Robert Rodriguez is still working on getting Machete off the ground and that he hopes the director will be ready when he finishes another project he is currently working on. He also confirms that Rodriguez will in fact direct the film, and not just produce it. In addition, Trejo breaks the news that Dimension Films is looking to turn MACHETE into a trilogy! Watch for more on this as it develops. After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss.
A trilogy? Doesn't that seem like a bit much? I guess I'm just happy that this movie is being made in the first place. Now I want to hear that they're making "DON'T!".
hmm...its hard to really feel either way about this.. i wanna see Machete...but as a trilogy i don't know...
what if it isnt successful.. the rest doesn't get financed and then we got 'a New Hope' but not 'Empire' or 'Return'...
i'd rather it were just one flick...but if it is one movie and then its successful we get more of a 'Reloaded' and 'Revolution' affair... anyhow...I remember when Machete was coming out when Planet Terror came out...so we'll see...in any case...Make Machete!!!!
Hate to be a skeptic here, but I'll believe this when I see it. GRINDHOUSE flops, Eli Roth's TRAILER TRASH gets bumped back to an undetermined date... for all the talk, it doesn't seem like there is any real hurry to get any more of these throwback exploitation pics done. If HELL RIDE manages to turn a profit, maybe. Otherwise, I wouldn't hold my breath for MACHETE.
Great news! It'll be like Rodriguez's second Mexican Dollars Trilogy! Trejo is a badass who needs the credit he deserves. Now I just want Werewolf Women of the SS to come out! LONG LIVE THE GRINDHOUSE! And if anything, the could go straght to DVD with Robert just producing like he did with the From Dusk til Dawn sequels.
Because Grindhouse was uncomfortably long even thought people don't mind sitting through hairy pothead 785 and Lord Of the rings it didn't have much of a hard core fan base other then the directors names I suggest anyone who hasn't seen grind house try and get your hands on the unrated DVD versions they don't have the cut reels making them about 9/10 minutes longer and some scenes actually added in. Look up the trailers especially thanksgiving MACHETE is going to be awesome
MACHETE TRILOGY,There is a god & he love's us,if this happens like DANNY TREJO says it's going to be fucking awesum & it's about time DANNY gets a bad ass leading roll.BUT IF YOUR GONNA HIRE MACHETE TO BE THE BAD GUY,YOU BETTER MAKE DAMN SURE....HE GET'S THE TRILOGY..oh and the only reson GRINDHOUSE flopped was because the movie go'ers of the U.S.A didn't get the what RR/QT were giving to the world..pure movie heaven in every way,so the rest of the world got ripped off by them being split and the only way we get to see it is by pirate or waiting untill it's just been put back to how it should of allways been and buy it from japan on dvd,me i did both coz it aint up to the U.S.A to deside what the rest of the world gets just because they didn't like it..
