There are a few films I'm looking forward to more than anything else this year, and one of them is Sony Screen Gems' Quarantine, a remake of the Spanish horror film [REC]. This weekend Sony kick started the hype by launching a viral marketing campaign, which features two videos inside. The video blogs feature some guy who found a tape that has disturbing stuff on it. He's thinking of uploading it - footage of a public CDC lock-down of a Los Angeles apartment complex. Read on for two (of many) videos now floating around YouTube. The remake hits theaters October 17.
battleofthedead this is a Remake of [REC] a 2005 horror movie......so saying it rips off cloverifield is like saying Doom 3 is ripping off Quake 3 when it's a remake of the original Doom with story line this time
hmmm i really wanted to see [Rec] before the remake. i'll bet [Rec] is going to be like The Invisible never to see the light of day in America? instead replaced by a shitty remake.
in my experience, any product (and a movie is, indeed, a product), that requires a viral marketing campaign disguised as an ARG is destined to be a subpar product.
