UPDATE: COVER ART INSIDE - Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced Cloverfield (review) on DVD, which stars Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas and TJ Miller. DVD Active reports that the Matt Reeves directed monster flick will be available to own on April 22, and should retail at around $27.95. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a commentary by Director Matt Reeves, 4 featurettes (The Making of Cloverfield, Cloverfield Visual Effects, I Saw It! It's Alive! It's Huge, and Clover Fun), 6 additional scenes (Congrats Rob, When You're in Japan, I Call That a Date, It's Going to Hurt, Alt Ending #1, Alt Ending #2), and multiple eastereggs. There's no word on a Blu-ray release at this time, and we're told NOT to expect one right yet. BOO!

Who cares about Blu-Ray anyway? The majority of people are just fine with regular DVD quality. Once prices drop SIGNIFICANTLY on all HD equipment, then society will accept it, but for now people are perfectly fine with standard definition. But still, I feel bad for the Blu-Ray only crowd.

I can't wait for this release. Easily one the best monster movies ever. Just breathtaking.

It'll be on Blu-ray eventually. For now, I'll settle with a regular dvd and special features.

Who needs Blu-Ray. For now, it's like the equivalent of a silk toilet paper roll.

Well considering you can watch regular dvds on a blu ray player, and they look almost the exact same, I dotn see the big deal

Not releasing Blu-Ray immediately seems like a naive move on their part, since that's where the technology is headed. If it were still up in the air, I could see it, but now that it's inevitable, it makes no sense. I'll wait till the Blu-Ray comes out to buy it.

i think they should stop making blu-ray. 1 b/c da movies cost 30 dollars and 2 b/c u have 2 have a hd-tv to use it. by the time u get everything u'll have spent 5000 dollars! dvds are better! cant wait for cloverfield!

well first off... their going to be lowering the prices on blu ray anyways because they found a cheaper way to make them... and who gives a shit if their $30 people obviously dont because tehir buying them arnt they..you dont have to have and hd-tv either.... but they do look better on them.

The blue ray disc will probably have a bunch of extra stuff on it that they don't want to give up on the regular dvd version.

probably.
