We've been trying super hard to find any sort of casting news for Hong Kong’s Fruit Chan's (Three... Extremes, Dumplings) remake of Don't Look Up, but have failed on all fronts. But it doesn't matter anymore as the full line-up was revealed this afternoon via Variety. You can read on to see who'll star in the latest remake.
Henry Thomas (Dead Birds), Kevin Corrigan (pictured; The Last Winter, Superbad), Lothaire Bluteau (Dead Heat), Carmen Chaplin and Reshad Strik (The Hills Have Eyes II) have joined Distant Horizon’s English-language remake of Japanese chiller “Don’t Look Up.”
Hong Kong’s Fruit Chan will direct the pic, which lenses in Los Angeles beginning April 14. Production had previously been set for Romania.
Set in an abandoned movie studio, pic charts the unraveling sanity of a director and his crew when spirits from another era invade the film stock of the contempo production.
Movie is a Distant Horizon production with Japanese companies Action 5 and Hakuhodo. Distant Horizon’s Anant Singh and Brian Cox will produce, along with Yoko Asakura of Action 5. Richard Jeffery and Philip Lee are executive producers.
The remake rights were bought from Wowow subsidiary Suncent Cinema Works in 2003. Distant Horizon previously sought Nakata to remake his own film. “Joyuu-Rei” was produced in 1996 by Bandai Visual, with Bitters End and Wowow.

Please support this film! I have a small but awesome part in it. I know everyone's sick of remakes, but please give this one a chance :) |
