Fright Night writer-director Tom Holland talked a bit with Icons of Fright about the upcoming remake that's in development over at Sony Pictures. "[Tom] admitted that he is scheduled for a "luncheon" to discuss the FRIGHT NIGHT remake, which apparently has gone through three un-usable drafts." We've heard of various people who have taken meetings to possibly helm the remake, we'll keep you posted when someone becomes official. What Holland's involvement may be is yet to be seen, but he does tell the site that he is the sole rights holder.
Oh for the love of fuck - NO!!!!!!!!! The first one is a masterpiece that blended equal parts scares, suspense, and campy humor and did it all with style. Fuck this remake, fuck the Last House on the Left Remake, and double fuck the Prom Night remake. We need Peter Vincent Vampire Killer to come back and drive a stake up someone at Sony Picture's ass. I'd like to add one more 'fuck' for the Prom Night remake too. I think some of my anger towards that has spilled on to this one.
Well what's more interesting is that the original FRIGHT NIGHT novelization and comic books are going to be re-printed. That was the main focus of the original article I posted.
I SHIT ON ALL OF THESE BULLSHIT REMAKES...HOW ABOUT REMAKING MOVIES THAT WEREN'T GOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE INSTEAD OF REMAKING UNTOUCHABLE CLASSICS JUST TO MAKE MONEY. NO WAY IN FUCK THIS WILL BE HALF AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL.
I'm glad that others feel the way I do about all these remakes. Why don't they remake a movie that could have been good instead of an already great one. I'm sure you've seen horror movies where the concept was good but the acting and/or effects just ruined it. They should remake movies like that. It would seem that it would be better to remake movies that let us down the first time and make them better instead of taking ones we loved and fucking up our memories of them. Fuckers! I'd like to throw one more 'fuck you' grenade at the Prom Night remake while I'm here.
