Vertigo Films has signed a deal with Contender Home Entertainment, which will see Contender handle DVD distribution for Vertigo’s upcoming slate of theatrical releases. The first pic to be distributed under the deal is serial killer thriller WAZ (review), which was released in U.K. cinemas Feb. 22. Read on for the full announcement.
In WAZ Well worn by years of gangland brutality, veteran Detective Eddie Argo (Skarsgard) prides himself on playing by the book. However, loyalties wane as he and his new rookie partner Helen O'Mara (George) find themselves entangled in a string of violent and horrific killings that are targeting a notorious local gang—forcing Argo to revisit a case he would rather forget. In the midst of mounting terror, the calculating killer stays focused on the ultimate goal— coerce Argo to pay for his previous mistakes and answer the ultimate question...would you kill the one you love to save yourself from death?
Other titles covered under the agreement are Rupert Wyatt’s “The Escapist,” Alex Holdridge’s “In Search of a Midnight Kiss,” Vito Rocco’s “Faintheart,” Simon Ellis’s “Dogging: A Love Story,” Jeff Nichols’ “Shotgun Stories,” Kenny Glenaan’s “Summer,” Tom Shankland’s “The Day” and Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Bronson.”
The deal was negotiated between Rupert Preston, Vertigo Films’ producer and head of distribution, and Jon Bourdillon, director, Contender Home Entertainment.
DVD marketing will be overseen by Matt Brightwell, head of marketing for Contender Home Entertainment.
