Now to be confused with Doug Aarniokoski's film of the same name, Columbia has picked up Animals, a high-concept spec script by newcomer Mike Sobel. Neal Moritz is producing via his Original Films banner. The horror thriller's central idea is that all the planet's animals turn on humans, from wild creatures to pets. Also in production is a remake of the Australian horror pic, Long Weekend, which carries the exact same plot description - only it's on a camping retreat. Personally I think this is a great new avenue of horror to explore and can't wait to see what turns out.
