UPDATE: VIDEO INSIDE! The alternate ending to Warner Bros. Pictures' I Am Legend keeps finding its way online, but as quick as it goes on YouTube it's pulled... so beyond the break you'll find a description of the alternate finale, which will be included on the upcoming DVD release on March 18 (read about it here). If you happen to spot the ending, post a link in the comment section for our readers.
Eh, both endings are kinda' lame, but then again is a a big budget Will Smith vehicle, so what would one expect. This one IS closer to the actual Matheson ending though, which redeems it considerably.
I love this ending because it shows more of the animalistic nature of the "Zampires" and like Middlebrow said it's closer to the original ending of the original story redeeming it
Both endings kind of suck. But if they were going to fix anything for the dvd release, maybe they should have fixed how awful those creatures looked. For such a big budget, big name movie.. the CG on those creatures was terrible.
I am so glad they choose the ending that was released in the theaters. It left a better impression. Just knowing that there were survivors and he killed himself for nothing.

this is the other ending
I keep reading comments about how the alternate ending is closer to Matheson's ending. How's that? In the book, the vampires killed him. When I saw 'I am Legend' in the theater the ending got a big reaction from the audience because of the fact that he killed himself for no reason. I feel that if it had been the alternate ending people would have walked out complaining the way they did when I left the theater after seeing Blade 3.
