Alison Lohman Gets Dragged to Raimi's 'Hell'
Monday, March 3, 2008

We broke the news on Friday that Oscar-nominated star Ellen Page had quit Sam Raimi's latest horror project, Drag Me to Hell, which he would direct as his next feature. Today it was announced that Alison Lohman (pictured inside) will replace Page for Ghost House Pictures, Mandate Pictures and domestic distributor Universal. Producers were looking for another babyfaced star and found one in Lohman, best known for portraying a younger-than-her-years character in "White Oleander." She recently voiced a role in "Beowulf," appeared in "Things We Lost in the Fire" and will star in Lionsgate's "Game." HELL is a morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse.

She's a pretty good actress. It'll be interesting to see how she does.

Ugh, I couldn't stand her in "Flicka". She was the one thing that stopped me from liking that one. Bitch, learn to act!

Alison Lohman is a really good actress. She is a more than acceptable replacement for Ellen

Oh she is a great actress. I love her and I hope she won't back out like Ellen did.

Good...I loved Ellen Page in "Hard Candy", but since she is Oscar Nominated, she is too good to star in a Sam Raimi picture (even though it will probably be rated PG-13 anyways....

"She is a more than acceptable replacement for Ellen" Agreed and i think she fits the role better than Ellen even though i like Ellen more.

Was Anna Paquin not offered the part?

She's great. Perfect recovery from Page's dropout; Lohman's probably better for the role anyway.

A better choice. Not sure what role Ellen was to play, but she seems like more of a novelty and would distract from the story anyway...

It all depends on which crowd this movie is aiming to please. If they are going to make a die hard horror movie then Ellen Page would have been better because she is a better actress and does great in edgy roles. If Raimi is making a movie for the young kids (I hope not, but you never know), then it doesn't matter who the fuck they put in there. I will really shit if a movie with a title like Drag Me to Hell has a PG-13 rating.
