Both STYD and B-D have been tipped off (and have confirmed) that Platinum Dunes is planning to remake Rosemary's Baby for Paramount Pictures. The 1968 horror film from legendary director Roman Polanski follows a young couple who move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life. Dunes is currently casting their remake of Friday the 13th as they are finishing up gearing up for The Unborn, which will shoot in Chicago this month.
Here we go again. Can't Platinum Dunes, with all their "genius" horror writers and directors, can't seem to just opt for the "original" road. They have to keep remaking movies? Why don't they just, well, buckle down and come up with a NEW movie monster. God knows that in our modern age, classic horror icons are hard to come by. Maybe they aren't smart enough to come up with that "memorable" hook, so they have to resort to using stories that are already in existance cause it makes the job a whole lot easier.
How are we shocked by this announcement? This is just one of many classics that will at some point be remade. JAWS and The Exorcist would be the next ones that will freak me out. It's inevitable. How bout STAR WARS ???
Crazy to imagine ????
Fuck Platinum Dunes. All they are is a bunch of a unoriginal retards. Hurry up and get the fucking remakes out of the way, because sooner than later there will be nothing left to remake. They'll just start remaking their own remakes.
rosemarys baby remake=lame
hahaha psycho remake...now that thats already happened i think it would be great for platinum dunes to snatch up that one as well...why not
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!
Seriously that was my response.
Iīve never hated remakes, i always said "iīm ok with remakes as long as they donīt remake Rosemaryīs baby(which is my all time favorite film)". I was so shocked and angry when i read this. I think itīs ok that Platinum Dunes have remaked Texas Chainsaw massacre, Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm street but stay the fuck away from Rosemaryīs baby!!!!!!
the Only Way to Stop These Horror Remakes Movie is to Boycott Them Specialy by Not Previewing/Reviewing in These Type of Websites .... but Who's Listening
Why remake something that was and still is perfect? I mean it was a perfect version of the book, the acting was perfect, the idea of not showing the baby was perfect...it is a comment on the "spirit of the 60s" doesn't everyone see that? The Pope at Yankee Stadium, Kennedy, his women and Jackie, the spiritual destruction of the world, religion and marriage...these are all 60's issues...this is the heart of the book and the true evil beneath it all....when the camera starts to go towards the basinette at the end to show the baby, but opts to go out the window to show New York City...it's clear, at least to me, that "Rosemary's Baby" is us...the world in the 60s....the spirit of the Anti-Christ....it doesn't fit in today's world...Iraq is the devil, now...anyway, everyone knows the Devil is the baby's father...so what's the big surprise? Don't you think it's a rather stupid idea, Michael Bay? What? Is it going to be Clinton and Hillary in her dream, now?
Are we going to see the little computer graphic baby with little horns and cat eyes? If everyone knows the end of a mystery...then it ceases to have power...everyone knows, by now, who and what "Rosemary's Baby" is....poor, pitiful artist-leeches!!!
That's what all you remakers are....
Oh, and one more thing concerning all of these remakes...
These people are completely invalidating my generation by saying that all our beloved classics need to be remade, like they were trash or something...like my generation was stupid and that we were unable to make good movies out of good stories...that only this new generation can make good movies...better photography, sound, special effects, acting, etc. Yeah, right..."Rosemary's Baby" was nominated for "Best Screenplay" and won for "Best Supporting Actress". Mia Farrow was also nominated for "Best Actress"...."Rosemary's Baby" made more money than any other horror movie made in the 60's...I do believe...what a shame that todays producers are so pitiful that they can't come up with anything new...really pathetic. There are a lot of good novels out there just waiting to be made...if you want to remake something, Bay, remake "Ghost Story"...remake "Hell House"....do some Poe or Lovecraft films, remake "Carmilla"...."The Devil Rides Out"...."To the Devil-A Daughter"...."Salem's Lot" has yet to be filmed well....remake "Space Vampires (Lifeforce)"....remake "Night of the Living Dead" again....go ahead and remake "Curse of the Demon" if you want..."Conjure Wife"...."The Gorgon"...."Quatermass and the Pit"...."Demon Seed"...."The Reptile"...how about making "The Vampire Lestat" or "The Witching Hour"..."Communion" could stand a remake...just leave the really big ones alone..."The Texas Chainsaw" remake was NOT better than the original...but the "Beginning" was really good....remake the flawed ones, man!
I agree that remakes have to stop, itīs just too much already, as for your gen been bad, not at all, I would say itīs more than this generation of studio exec and producers are just too lazy or stupid to try something new for their own, I now thereīs nothing "new" per se under the sun, but you get the idea, the worst part is, the end to this epidemic itīs nowhere to be found, and the writers strike will be found as an excuse soon too, i know there must be young people with great new ideas and talents (there just have to be some some, itīs balance) the problem is when big studios see that remakes start to make money and letīs face it, they make money, even the worst of them, starting for the fact that the gens of the originals will see them eventually, and that since itīs a remake selling the idea of the product to the public it a job already half done (they know and liked the original) and for that studios decide to go for less risky investment and at least some guaranteed box office income (remakes), that some "new" project that will have to earn itīs salt with little or no guarantees.
The question would be when itīs gonna end?, when independent filmmakers get into mainstream and become the rule not the exception, I know itīs wishful thinking, but via webisodes and web series something like that could happen....
Sequels are ok, Prequels I can handle...but remakes got really tired a long time ago, and I blame the Ring, the Grudge and not so much the "Psycho" remake or the "Night of the Living dead" those remakes were made with years between them, they were an exception not the rule then , or like now, the trend Right now I totally prefer to see a bad new movie than another remake, which more often than not just sucks big time, and the worst so far for me itīs the Omen, the original was just great and it didnīt have to be remade at all, MAYBE remake the Final Conflict and thatīs all...The Omen (original) itīs my favorite and i have never been so pissed of at a remake than the version that wa released on 06...
Stupid C U Next Tuesday's gotta start making some damned original movies...
