We broke the news here that Patrick Lussier would be directing a remake to My Bloody Valentine for Lionsgate, with a screenplay by Zane Smith. Today Lionsgate announced that the movie is now slated for release on January 23, 2009 taking it off of its February 13 - Valentine Day Weekend - release. In addition, Lionsgate is getting in on the new trend and will shoot the film in 3-D. How long until this becomes a bad gimmick once again? How about already.
3-D....Are you kiddin me ??? What a bad idea. 3-D is an outdated fad that never caught on because it really didn't work too well to begin with. I remember Friday the 13th part 3 was in 3-D and that was so lame and pointless with the ridiculous glasses. It's all hype and no payoff. I hope they change their mind and stick to the story, the original was great. Harry Warden does not need any fancy 3-D, CGI bullshit to plunge a pick axe into someone.
They will probably make it pg-13 as well. They are going to ruin my favorite slasher movie of all time. Has anyone seen White Noise 2???? Shit sandwhich!!!
Well, Lionsgate is pretty good at pulling in the hard R ratings, so I wouldn't worry. They don't go PG13 with a slasher flick too often. But yeah, 3-D is a stupid idea. I don't mind that Final Destination 4 is going to be 3-D, because that could be a lot of fun, but something that's supposed to be... idk, more "real", I think it'll kill the film.
I'm a person who will suport a remake cause it was a good film but to make it in 3 - d...*&^%$%^&*@#$%^&* there was and is nothing that you could possibly do in this movie to make it work I am no hippocrit so stop the presses and can the idea
Look guys and gals, 3D has come a long way since FT13th3D back in 1982. Gone are the anaglyph glasses with the red and cyan eyes f*king with your head. No more 7-11 s*t. The technology has moved into the digital arena with polarized glasses and sophisticated techniques for making the experience headache free. Has anyone seen any of the 3D movies in IMAX lately? If it's used well it can be very cool and comfortable. We live our lives watching the world in 3D every day. Why not experience movies that way too, as long as they don't overuse it by injecting a cheap 3D gimmick shot every few minutes just because they can... Plus, imagine that big miner's pick swinging right out of the screen at you in slow-motion! Yeah, boy!
People need to get out of 1983 and in 2008. 3-D has changed like every other bit of technology. This film being in 3-D is quite a shock, but we all know this is gonna be one gore filled flick.
So I guess none of you have seen any of the recent IMAX 3-D films, or are familiar with contemporary 3-D technology? None of you caught BEOWULF in theaters? I saw F13 in 3-D both in its original theatrical run and in a recent DVD format, with updated 3-D tech, and it was a blast both times. I'm not saying MBV will be good, but I question how caught up with current cinema trends anyone who dismisses 3-D as an outdated innovation can really be. 3-D is big now, so why not have a 3-D slasher movie? And just as an aside... I find it a bit misleading when a news item is headlined with an exclamation like "Goes 3-D!" but the article/editorial itself treats the whole thing with a very "meh" attitude.
