Prodigy Entertainment is set to produce a remake of the classic '80s horror film, Night of the Demons, according to STYD. The website reports that the screenplay is being written by Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson (The Mother of Tears), with Gierasch (Autopsy) directing. "['Demons'] is a modern take but Angela is still in it. It's got blood, guts, Halloween, breasts, kids, demons and everything else that makes life worth living," Gierasch tells the site. Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in late spring.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, as I havn't seen the original. Indeed, it sounds like fun...
but it's not classic because it's from the 80's.
Halloween? yes.
Nightmare? yes.
Hellraiser? yes.
but night of the demons a classic?
hmm...
Night of the Demons is certainly a B movie classic. I don't usually like to refer to horror movies as B movies, especially if they are good, but that is what NOTD is. That being said, if the movie sticks to the silly, fun, bloody, and breast filled atmosphere of the original, then I'm all for it.
Why does everyone nitpick every syllable of every news article? Especially having not seen the freakin movie. F*ck. As for NOTD, this is one of the better remake ideas.
I loved the original NOTD! Two things the remake NEEDS to have are: 1.) Stigmata Martyr! Keep the dance scene and keep the original song by Bauhaus. Don't have some modern rock group remake the song. The original holds up well with ANYTHING today!! 2.) Lipstick into the nipple scene! That's one of the "WTF?!" classics of horror. Just like that one scene in C.H.U.D where the guy eats the quarter.
Why is every horror movie from the 70s and 80s called classics? Night of the Demons up there with movies like Halloween? The Exorcist? Psycho? No way in hell. A cult classic, fine, but not a classic
Oh fuck off you pussies. "ohhhh, it's not a classic, don't call it a classic, waaahhhhh!" Go FUCK yourselves. That's not even the point of the article. Anyways, I'm down for a remake and I agree to hold on to Stigmata Martyr but I doubt it'll happen.

I'm responding to a user about the godamn article ya weiner. I'm not stating that Night Of The Demons is a classic nor am I stating that it isn't. It's not a difference in opinion, it's the fact the this article was NOT written about the film being a classic, but that it's being remade. I for one am usually the guy who will call "MrDisgusting" a dickhead and say I don't care for his opinion but in this case it's not even about that. Fact is all he really said was a movie is being remade and he gets attacked by a bunch of whiny thumbsucking babies saying that he can't say it's a classic. While here you are bitching about me talking down to you because you stated your opinion while your opinion is that someone elses opinion sucks. How the fuck does that even work?
PS If you don't like profanity stay the fuck off anything that has to do with horror.
I havent been able to get my hands on the dvd yet of the original, but i wouldnt mind seeing this remade, accoridng to friends who are fans of the original loved it.
I loved the original and it's sequels. I own them on both video and dvd as well. The first one is the best one and it is indeed a cult classic, which is still great till this day, like The Evil Dead. I agree with the crazy dance scene and especially the badass song, but we can't lose the nipple scene either (It was funny as fuck). Also the ending with the old man and the apples w/the razor blades is a must have >:}.
I always loved the Original one.. but of course this series was brought down also by crappy sequels... hinting at part 3 here... excited to see a revamped version!
I can't wait to see what they do with this remake. The movie might lose some magic without Linnea Quigley and Amelia Kincaid though. They're the reason the original was so much fun in the first place. I wonder if they'll include the famous lipstick scene.
