We can confirm STYD's report (which we hinted at here with "writer(s)") that both Marcus Dustan and Patrick Melton will pen the screenplay for Dimension Films' remake of Hellraiser. The duo have written all three Feast films for Dimension and Saw IV-IV for Lionsgate. Dunstan is also off shooting his first feature film, Midnight Man, for Dimension. I guess you can say these guys are the kings of horror right about now? French directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are still behind the camera with their first feature film, Inside, arriving on DVD this April.
don't no what to expect from hellraiser. I didn't think Feast was that great, and i thought Saw 4 was the worst Saw film so far, but thats just what i think.Hopefully HELLRAISER will be good.
Yeah they just better not fuck it up. What with all the remakes coming out now, like Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees (and completely ignoring the fact Jason's Mother was the original Killer) They better not turn the Cenobites into something they are not. If that were the case I'd stand in the aisle and piss on the screen.
Well, I thought Feast was one of the most fun horror movies I've seen in a while. And while I agree that Saw 4 was the worst in the series, I still liked it. But I agree, if they fuck up ANY important details regarding the movie, you can expect to see my piss on the screen as well.
Also, I'm sick of this "re-imagining" bullshit. They need to just make a remake and not incorporate their own shit in there. Hopefully that's what they do.
DJ, you have to realize they don't care if Jason's Mother was the original killer. They're not remaking this film for us fans who actually know that. They're remaking it to try and get in a new audience. The young kids of today who don't know she was the killer and just don't care. Besides, in all fairness to them, she was the killer in one movie. Jason appeared in the other 9, plus FvsJ. So it would be kinda stupid to make her the killer since she's not iconic like Jason.
and not even wearing the now signature hockey mask or at least the all too famous burlap sack with the one eye hole but anyway as long as they have
Pinhead as a war vet I'm good with it!
the pins at nearly the same length I'm good with it!
that No-Eyed opened ripped open mouth cenobites I'm good with it!!
oh yes AND HAVE PANDORA'S BOX and ONLY PANDORA'S BOX
I haven't seen the other movies that these guys wrote other than Feast, so I can't speak for the total quality of their work, but I can say that Feast bored me. I do hope they do a better job with this.
That is a sickening thought. I want my original Pinhead! Seriously though, anyone else but Bradley playing Pinhead will just suck. It's like with the NOES "remake". No Englund = no remotely decent Freddy. No Bradley = no remotely decent Pinhead. Then again, that could just be me being an obsessive Pinhead fangirl. I've only watched parts of Feast, and it was... nice, but not too impressive. I bet they could make Hellraiser a bit more gory than the original (although that was already really good in that regard), but I think it will be one of those "let's introduce the young kids who don't know who the icons or horror are to the stuff... and make it teenager-friendly"-things. Why else would anyone think about remaking Hellraiser?
So... I'm extremely sceptical of this. Probably not going to watch it, as Hellraiser is my favourite franchise, and I really don't want it to be ruined. By the FRENCH, no less.
well i can safely say any interest i had in this film has been thrown out the window, much like Kirsty did to the Lemarchand Box. I have no doubt that the film will be visually interesting and well directed, but the writing is going to sink it. and as for the whole "ruined by the french" comment above, if anyone is going to ruin this film, it will be the AMERICAN Studio, not the French Duo behind "Inside", one of the most acclaimed and truly terrifying films in years.
It's fucking Hellraiser back on the big screen and that should be the main interest here. Since Clive Barker is in fact involved with this remake I'm sure there will be no shitty outcome because he is Hellraiser. I own all 8 films and I loved them, especially the 1st three, so the more the better. I personally can't see anyone else play Pinhead other then Bradley, so hopefully he is on board with this remake. "No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering."
