Crazy 'Wrong Turn 2' Story From Australia

This is probably the most insane story I've read this year, and I think most of you will agree. It was reported in an Australian newspaper that underage sex offenders at a juvenile detention centre were shown an R-rated slasher film - Wrong Turn 2: Dead End- which featured nudity and sex scenes, by a government officer who paid for it using taxpayer money. Read on for the story.

UNDERAGE sex offenders at a juvenile detention centre were shown an R-rated slasher film, which featured nudity and sex scenes, by a government officer who paid for it using taxpayer money.

Up to six detainees as young as 15 years old were shown the gruesome and explicit B-grade horror flick Wrong Turn 2: Dead End by their recreation officer.

It is understood two of the inmates were serving sentences for sex-related crimes, yet were exposed to an oral sex scene and semi-naked women.

Woman killed with axe

The film also includes an incest scene between two flesh-eating zombies. Other scenes include a woman being cleaved in half with an axe.

It was hired using a Department of Juvenile Justice account. The staff member has since been moved to an administrative position but remains on the same pay level.

The department said she had been "disciplined" but did not elaborate.

"Immediate sacking"

Former Children's Court magistrate Barbara Holborow said the officer ought to be sacked immediately.

"Where do they get these people from? When you put a child into a detention centre it's not just to punish them, it's to rehabilitate and educate them," Ms Holborow said.

"How can you rehabilitate kids if you're going to show them filth like that. Whoever the person is, they should be sacked."

The incident at the Keelong detention centre near Wollongong in November prompted a crackdown on DVD use by Juvenile Justice Minister Barbara Perry.

Yet, just two months later a similar incident occurred at the Cobham detention centre when inmates were treated to a screening of the horror film Saw II.

It is unclear how many sat through the entirety of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End. The department said only two inmates watched the whole movie, which features ex-punk rocker Henry Rollins and B-grade sex kitten Crystal Lowe. Much of the explicit material occurs at the beginning of the film.

"More disturbing is that two of the six residents that saw the DVD were serving sentences for sex crimes," one insider said.

The source said, despite the serious breach, management failed to report the matter to the professional conduct unit.

Wow, "Former Children's Court magistrate Barbara Holborow" is pretty damn close minded to call a film "filth". She should keep her opinions to herself and judge a film by its rating, now its content. I also don't think that the officer should be fired. Someone who puts so much time into a job and working for their career should not be "sacked" for one mistake, which in reality, is not THAT bad. It's only a movie. Prove the movies create criminals, and then you have a case, otherwise, shut your mouth.

I worked for eight year with teenage sex offenders and we'd sometimes show them R rated films including some horror. We taught them to use their interventions while watching (turning away from the tv during any sexual explicit scenes). It was done to get them ready to do it when they returned to the real world. They needed to be subjected to 'triggers' and learn to utilize their interventions. However there were some in the administration that got upset over the R rated films so we stopped for the most part (staff including supervisors would do some of the less brutal R films still). We always avoided the more graphic films from the start but kids are going to see these films so might as well prepare them in the sense of not allowing films to get the best of their impulses.
