'Friday the 13th' Shooting Update

A little update for you Jason Voorhees freaks out there. We received word that Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th will now shoot on April 21 in Austin, Texas. No casting has been announced thus far, but expect some updates once the untitled David Goyer projects gets rolling. This shouldn't effect the planned February 13, 2009 release date by New Line Cinema. The remake, which will be directed by Marcus Nispel, will focus on Jason Voorhees -- who will wear the mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake.

As long as there is nothing involving young Jason murdering his pet rat or any gratuitous rape scenes, it'll probably be fine.

rob zombies halloween was his only film i could actually watch without getting up and leaving. im ready for jason to be back on the big screen i just dont like the whole making him human and explaing how he does the things he does like pop up out of nowhere i like the big unstoppable jason that does some creative killing the human jason in part 2 was kinda lame i mean he feel off a chair trying to stick a girl with a pitchfork

You people need to shut up about Halloween already. Nobody cares what you have to say about it anymore. Get over it kids ;) As for Friday, I'm hoping they release a bit more information than just "he wears the mask and kills in Crystal Lake". I don't expect much from the story, but I'd like to hear how much or little thought they put behind it.

As long as they keep the same basic history, then this is ok, cause it could also potentially act like a sequel. Depending on how they go about this, but I dont want any of the shock or grainy shit that they did with TCM or Halloween remakes in this.

Oh please make the remake machine stop for the love of God......

i can't wait for the tunnels!!! yeck... honestly i'd rather another TCM flick...not like they can really make it any worse than they already have... it can take place between the prequel and the remake and it can be completely dependent on Hoyt saying dirty things and the dirty atmosphere

RZ's Halloween sucked my big balls. TCM remake was very well done. I am very excited for this F 13th I think and hope it restarts the new horror generation. I am so sick of the torcher porn, just does nothing to get my heart beating like the original Halloween did.

Thought this wasn't an area to chat? Eh? Anyhow, I think this remake will probably end up being crap. But I'm glad they are on schedule. Anyone else wondering why Texas though...

The Tunnels sound really stupid I wouldn't be surprised if this is worst then the Halloween remake.

From what has been released about the plot, it sounds like it's all Jason and no mother. I personally liked the mother killing the counselors and her reasons. Like Halloween, the only way to really go is to give it more back story, (ok, a prequel). There needs to be something new introduced to the story as opposed to Jason in space. That and the movie with Freddy might be the dumbest idea for a Horror Icon I have ever seen. Bring something new to the table.

This isn't about Halloween being a terrible movie, this is about the idea of taking Jason's character too seriously. Create a great back story, yes, but do it right for a change. Next time try reading between the lines.

Can Platinum Dunes make a film that isn't a remake? Just saying.

The theatrical version of Halloween was pretty good, but the unrated version sucked. As for the new Jason movie..Hellyeah, bring it on!!!!!

how could a movie suck if it wasn't seen yet? trust it, it will be the best friday ever!!!

Another remake/prequel/reimaging? I cut my horror teeth with Freddy, Michael & Jason and I am so tired of seeing more news coming out of Hollywood everyday with this crap they think we want to see! Try something new with these characters for a change people, we might just applaud your work instead of panning it! (Shakes head in disgust and walks away)

I can't see how it will be good. All the 13th movies have been the same. Killer kills stupid teens. Freddy vs Jason is the only movie still in my collection. And Zombies Halloween did really suck. The rape scene in the "unrated" version was sick, disgusting and uncalled for. It ruined the whole film. The escape scene in the theatrical version was much better.

There's not many movies that can be worst than Zombie's Halloween. I'm looking forward to the F13th film only because they have stated it will be placed timeline in between parts 2 and 4 which makes me happy. Human Jason is way better than zombie Jason. Plus you gotta love the return to Crystal Lake!
