CONTRARY to other reports, John Carpenter is in fact locked in, but the exit of Mick Garris is fact true. More as it develops. Are you ready for this? Bloody-Disgusting has discovered seven of the directors chosen to take part in Mick Garris' TV series, FEAR ITSELF, a new horror-anthology airing on NBC. Like "Masters of Horror," "Fear" will feature 60-minute films by big-name horror writers and directors. It will be exec produced by Keith Addis, Andrew Deane and Mick Garris, with Adam Goldworm and Ben Browning producing. Inside you'll find a list of the first seven directors, with more to come! What do you guys think?

DRUMROLL PLEASE..........

Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond)

Brad Anderson (Session 9, Machinist)

Mary Harron (American Psycho)

Breck Eisner (upcoming Crazies remake)

Ronny Yu (Freddy vs Jason)

Ernest Dickerson (Demon Knight)

John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing)

Hopefully it will be good and it does well enough in the ratings so the Network wont pull the plug. I've been waiting for a good Horror/ Sci Fi series to come along. To me, still nothing comes close to Rod Serling's TWILIGHT ZONE. That's the bar. I still love watching those old episodes. Brilliant.

Hopefully we can still look forward to unrated DVDs.

This is probably going to suck. The only reason Masters of Horror rocked was because it was on Showtime/SCREAM, so they could do pretty much whatever the hell they wanted to do, but on NBC, which is a broadcast network, and has MANY rules they have to follow, don't expect too much from this. I'll still give it a chance, but I'm just hoping to god we get unrated DVD's that don't hold back.

I'm intrigued, hope NBC pushes things to the edge as it is horror afterall. I have faith some of these directors will really deliver, or perhaps it will be just campy fun, but i'll tune in for sure.

Excellent. Crossin fingers for Takashi Miike, though i'm his film would be banned from tv.

I firmly believe that there's something to be said for working within limitations. There's no earthly reason why a good director should not be able to concoct a well crafted, truly frightening 60 minute episode that is acceptable for major network television. Those who think that good horror is reliant upon heaping helpings of gore and graphic violence haven't checked out many of the classics.
